Several thousands of years ago, the Grand Sage Saint is the most powerful cultivator in Fenghua Great Continent and he has created the Carnation Goddess Painting in which portrayed the 7 Saintesses in various compromising lewd poses. 

From this Carnation Goddess Painting, he is going to select only 1 Saintess to be the Carnation Goddess. 

But before this great work can be completed, he is mortally wounded by the 7 Saintesses and is thought to be dead. But he's back now for vengeance.

Now in cultivation, these were the stages of the cultivation realms; Foundation, Qi Condensation, Bronze Core, Silver Core, Gold Core, Yuan Yin, Revolving Core, Awakened, Saint/ Saintess, Sage Saint/ Sage Saintess, Grand Sage Saint/ Grand Sage Saintess.

The Carnation Goddess

When Shen Lie had just got into the lines where the failures were, the Holy Saintess Sheng Feiyan smiled wryly, "I can see that around 200 of you have passed while 70 of you have failed…"

"Those who have failed, I am afraid that you have to go back to your cultivation sects and you can't stay in my holy land anymore…"

When she had said that, many of the female protégés that had failed began to break down tearfully. This included two of the female protégés that were with Lie Dun and Di Shitian the whole night.

Holy Saintess Sheng Feiyan then lit a slow smile, "However, I am also a merciful holy saintess and I will show a little grace to those that have failed as I think that some of you there have the potential to pass. I shall pick 5 of you then…"

When she had said that, the 70 protégés that had failed immediately become quite spirited again.
