Lasci watched the interaction between Dr. Fry and Purity, finding it amusing.

“So, in two weeks, you’ll be back?”

Dr. Fry turned to Lasci, “Yes, best I give her a clean bill of health then. For now, you boys need to watch over her and keep her from moving too much. Otherwise, that wrist and leg could get worse. I’ll give her something for the pain to help her sleep. She needs to take it and the antibiotic with food or at least milk.”

Lasci nodded, “If she would sit still long enough, then it shouldn’t be an issue. Thanks, doc.”

Dr. Fry nodded and waved goodbye before leaving the room.

Once the door was closed, Lasci turned to Purity while she sat up across the end of the bed.

“My brothers should be back soon with what you may need. Also, your bag from the accident is downstairs. I’ll have someone bring it up.”

He turned to leave, but Purity’s response stopped him.

“It’s empty. I was taking it to the hospital to grab my grandmother's things, but it’s too late. I am sure they discarded them.”

“What hospital was she at? Oak Harbor?”

Purity nodded.

Walking over, he scooped her from the end of the bed and laid her against the pillows.

“I’ll have Prurien get your medication filled. In the meantime, try to get some rest.”

Lasci pulled the comforter up over her.

“Thank you.”

He shook his head, “Don’t thank me, just get better so we can figure out what to do with you. You have to have family somewhere; if not, after you’re healed, we can figure out things from there. I have enough to focus on between here and work. So I’d appreciate it if I didn’t have another thing to worry about.”

“Sorry.”

“Again, with the sorry. Say that too much, and you don’t sound sincere to people. Keep that in mind.”

He realized she was about to argue but spoke before she did, changing the subject.

“We don’t have a lot of food humans like to eat, but I think Jonathan just bought apples the other day. There’s coffee, tea, and water to drink. I’ll have him bring that up with your meds when he returns.”

Realizing what he had just said and seeing the look of confusion on Purity’s face, he scrambled for and believable explanation.

“I mean, most people. My younger brothers would live off delivery and fast food if they had their choice.”

He was at least honest about the last part.

She smiled slightly and nodded, “Tea is fine, with an apple, please.”

Lasci nodded back and quickly left.

As he headed downstairs, his phone rang.

“Yes?”

Lasci could hear Tener arguing with Johnathan.

“Speak, or I’m hanging up,” feeling not in the mood to deal with them.

“Hey, we are almost back, and we got the things you asked for. Also, promise not to blame me for Johnathan’s taste in woman's clothing. That’s all I am going to say.”

Taking a deep breath, Lasci responded, “As long as she’s covered up, I don’t care.”

“Um, sure, covered might be a bit of a stretch. Anyway, just letting you know.”

Lasci hung up the phone.

“So help me, if that demon comes back carrying lingerie and crotchless panties, I’m sending his ass to Hell, personally.”

He heard Prurien laugh as he got to the bottom of the stairs.

“It wouldn’t be the first time you threaten him, and God knows it won't be the last.”

They headed into the great room and sat on the sofas across from each other.

Lasci felt something poking his butt and pulled Prurien’s book from under him.

“Catching Love and Giving Hell, feeling lonely, Pru?”

He tossed the book to his brother.

“Not at all. In fact, the story is more about betrayal and regret. I enjoy reading about the heroine. To be honest, she would make the perfect mate if she stopped trying to kill her husband.”

Lasci eyed Prurien before chuckling, “Perfect, mate, eh? With a human? Unlikely brother. There are only four clans left on this continent, and if our bloodline is going to survive, we have slim pickings amongst them, but it has to be a Luna, regardless.”

Lasci and Prurien’s personalities were the same, but their feelings on certain things, like oil and water, clashed.

“Who says I want to carry on the bloodline? We have three younger brothers who would be fine to take that responsibility.”

Lasci shook his head, “You're only my beta because I was born first, according to tradition. One day you will start a new brood of your own and build it into another clan if you have sons, that is. There hasn’t been a son born since Amorous. You know that.”

Prurien nodded reluctantly, “That's why he’s so spoiled. As for me doing anything, I have enough work from you to keep me occupied. So finding a mate is the last thing I concern myself with.”

Lasci laughed at his brother, feeling the same way.

“I am on the same road as you, brother. Now, I also have a female human to keep an eye on.”

“Speaking of the female, any mention of any family we can contact?”

“No, she says they are all dead, but as sad as that may be, she can’t stay here,” Lasci started whispering, “if the female finds out who or what we are, she may start telling people once she does leave.”

Prurien nodded and sat back in thought.

“Anyway, in two weeks, she should be fine, according to the doc, so I will find her a place to stay, far away from here.”

“Good idea,” Prurien responded and then remembered, “Oh, I emailed you the monthly reports, things have been steady, but I’m worried about the rainy season. We’ll see a drop in exports or get behind again like last year.”

“True, better to be behind than experience a drop. If it affects the revenue, I can’t grant the workers an upgrade at the warehouse this year.”

Right as Prurien nodded, Tener came in the front door.

“Honey, we’re home!”

Prurien looked at Lasci, and they both rolled their eyes.

Lasci stood up and walked to the entrance to wait for Libidi to come in.

Jonathan came in next and gave Lasci an innocent grin as he handed him the bags of stuff for Purity.

Lasci growled in a deep voice, “I better find suitable clothing in here, demon, or you’ll be wearing it around the house until I say otherwise.”

“Oh my, I am so, so scared, but so that you know, I sleep naked. So, wearing something skimpy isn’t an issue for me.”

Coming in from behind the demon, Libidi chuckled, “Alright, Jonathan, go help Tener before Lasci eats you and uses your bones to clean his teeth.”

Jonathan just smiled and continued to follow Tener to the kitchen.

“I see they still have you on your toes, big brother.”

Lasci’s glare at Jonathan turned into a wide tooth grin upon seeing his brother Libidi.

Taking the younger brother in a friendly hug, Lasci slapped his back with affection before releasing him.

“It’s good to have you home. It seems you’ve grown some too! Maybe I should send Tener there as well?”

Prurien laughed, “That's not a good idea. They will probably send him back because he refuses to cut his hair.”

“I suppose that’s true,” Lasci responded as Prurien gave Libidi a quick hug.

“That, or suspend him for indecent exposure.”

Both older brothers started laughing at Libidi’s comment but stopped when they heard a loud thump from upstairs.

“Fuck, she’s at it again,” Lasci said before turning upstairs.

Libidi turned to Prurien, “She? Is that why Tener and Johnathan purchased women's things at the store? I thought they were screwing around!”

Prurien shook his head, “Nope, we have a human female currently injured and occupying Lasci’s bed.”

Libidi raised the corner of his mouth in a smile, “Oh really? Well, it looks like I came home just in time.”
