Chapter 09

Apart from a few new things that stuck in his mind, Alaska felt Angel's confession just filled his head. Wondering as to why the girl could like him when he didn't do anything? Alaska thinks, he just spends time on campus with more silence. He doesn't want to be liked by any girl, nor does he want to love any girl because he feels that everything is just bullshit.

Love? Haha, if there really is a form of love, why don't those related to him by blood love him fairly? Why didn't his father share his love between him and Harry equally?

Trying to erase all the burdens that have accumulated in his brain, Alaska prefers to walk at a leisurely pace down the corridor, he wants to go to a cafe before going home. Not according to the plan he had made, instead he was surprised by Angel who had just trotted past him with a happy face. Seeing that, he asked if the girl really liked him? If that's true, shouldn't Angel be feeling hurt now after getting rejected? Or, is that the only girl who has multiple personalities?

He tried to ignore it again, but his sight was again taken away when a small crash sounded up ahead. He saw clearly that Angel looked surprised because he had hit the man and made his alma mater wet. Alaska felt at home standing there to see what would happen next. His body moved reflexively almost to the two of them after finding the man about to put his hand on Angel's face. He was confused, why should he care?

It seemed that nothing else would happen after the man gave his alma mater to Angel, the girl seemed to heave a sigh of relief and then stepped her legs out without realizing Alaska was there.

Alaska also stepped out to continue the steps that had been delayed, her gaze was again seized by Angel who was being hugged by a man, a little possessive.

"You're really back?!" The man who was hugging him seemed to nod and tidied Angel's hair.

Alaska still hasn't moved on from there.

"I want to congratulate you on getting into the college of your dreams. Now, you can ask me for any gifts."

Alaska felt lazy to hear their conversation further, especially the two human bodies that were still embracing each other, Alaska really felt irritated. Then, he prefers to enter his car and immediately leave from there with a flat face.

"Ehm, take me for a walk and just stay at my house if you can." Angel looked enthusiastic, he really missed the man because they were separated for about six months.

"Of course, I get a full month's vacation from father, so I prefer to spend my time coming back here so I can bother you all the time." She got a small pinch from Verrel, the man who took on the role of a cousin for her chuckled when he saw Angel's face bend. He had always known that Angel did not like it when he touched her nose.

"You didn't bring your car, did you?" Verrell asked which made Angel nod.

"The tire went flat, and since you're back, please bring a handyman home to replace it, you'll pay for it." Without waiting for Verrel's answer, Angel had already escaped by getting into the man's car and leaning against the dashboard.

-

Verrell and I spent time tasting street food until the sun went down, we really enjoyed it and most importantly he paid for everything. Don't worry, his father is a successful businessman and he becomes his successor, his money will not run out as young as imagined. In contrast to the life of my mother and I, we have to be frugal and save money to buy what we want to have.

The car I have now is the car left by my father, the simple two-story house I live in was the result of selling our former luxury house. Mom used it to build a boutique business which was not too big but enough to support our living.

I used to work part time, a year ago to be exact. However, when my mother found out, she was so angry that she shed tears, she said that she was still able to live and fulfill everything I wanted. I don't think that mom can't, it's just that I don't want to be too much trouble if I want something, I know that my mother must be tired.

I let out a small sigh as I recalled that bitter moment, I started to wake up and focus on doing the task I was composing on my laptop. Until the next few minutes, I yawned big after successfully finishing it. My small smile widened, I closed my laptop and intended to immediately join the creatures who were in the subconscious, but the sound of knocking on the door stopped me first.

"Angel, can I come in?" Oh, that's Verrell. He has no other relatives in this country besides me, so he chose to stay and spend his vacation in this house.

Actually he could rent a five-star hotel, but my mother and I forced him to stay here for a whole month instead of wasting money.

"Come in," I said hoarsely. I'm really sleepy and just watch out if he just intends to annoy me.

He opened the door to my room and sat beside me. We've been like this since we were little, sadly Verrell and his family moved to Canada six months ago, I heard they won't be coming back other than for a vacation.

"Have you been okay all this time?" I cleared my throat.

"You miss your father?" I smiled wryly at that.

"Yes, occasionally." I answered honestly.

"Angel, you remember I once forbade you to like a man, right?" I turned and positioned myself to the side so our eyes met.

"Are you going to stop me now?" I answered the question with a question too.

I saw he was silent for a few seconds, then he looked back into my eyes.

"I think so, knowing that when you're an adult, you've felt loss and abandonment, you can already control your own feelings if you're hurt by a man."
