Chapter 16

B: Seth looked at Isaac and nodded. "Please talk. Would you rather talk here or in the library?" He asked him. "I guess here." He chuckled as Isaac leaned against the wall and started to talk. He nodded as he talked. He knew his sister had told him. She was very open with this man. "It angered me too." He agreed. He looked at him when he asked him to wipe the slate clean. Consider him a friend? He thought to himself. "Wait, Isaac." He called to him. "I want to accept all this, I really do. I just want you to know that I only do all this to protect Jess. So, I will ask you this once and I want you to tell me the gods honest truth. How far have you gone with my sister?" He asked him this a cold face. He knew Jess was not ready for that. She was still a child. He looked at him and waited.

Jess woke late in the night and somehow gotten out of her room and looked for Isaac. She found his room and knocked once. Hoping he was in there. She wanted to be with him. She wanted to fall asleep in his arms once. If it was the first and last time, she would live with that. She waited for him to open the door.

I: Zack should have kept his mouth shut. How could he ask for trust now and still not be honest? "I kissed her. The first time because I wanted to, the second time because she asked. If that angers you Seth, then you should stop and consider exactly how special Jess is to me. I won't do anything without her permission. Not ever again."

Zack had been attempting to sleep, but he couldn't. Not because of Jess or because of Seth, but because he honestly could not find rest. The issue was that sleeplessness was normal for Isaac. If one night he fell asleep, awoke rested and refreshed, then he knew there was a problem. It seemed like his life was not going to be any different if he were to date Jess. The truth being, he had to wait for her to trust him and find passion in the moments they shared together.

When he heard the knock on his door he rose immediately and sighed. Another mission at this hour? Demons apparently didn't sleep either. Zack stood and went to the door, putting a t-shirt over his bare chest as he opened it. "Jess?" He was stunned for a moment that she was standing there. "What happened? What's wrong? Why are you out of your room?" He leaned out to the hall to see if anyone was there. He pulled her inside gently and closed the door. If she was here this late the first thing that came to his mind was something was wrong.

"Are you alright?" He softly put a hand to lift her face to his so he could inspect her for pain.

B: She looked at him. "Why would something have happened? Why would there be anything wrong? And I guess they know I'm not going to run." She said with a small smile. "I'm not hurt Isaac. I just...I….sorry. I'll leave. I just…I could not sleep, and I thought I could sleep better with you....like in your arms." She blushed and looked at her feet.

To be truthful she had wanted to do more than sleep next to him, but she felt it was way too soon for anything like that in their relationship. For now, she would settle for stolen kisses and snuggling. Her heart pounded as she waited for him to talk. She knew he may turn her away but there was hope he wouldn't. If he did, she would be hurt but she would understand.

I: Isaac was confused by her request. She wanted to sleep with him, but in his arms. Isaac didn't mind that at all, yet she seemed to blush as if she was afraid of even doing that. He should have made this a serious moment, but she seemed so small, innocent, and in need of his affection. Isaac couldn't stop the smile that crept onto his lips.

He locked his door and gently placed a hand at her back and picked her up in his arms as if she were his princess he had been waiting to rescue for a while now. Isaac was so happy she had come to him that he wanted to be sure she didn't escape or run from him. He carried her to his bed and slipped her onto it. He stared at her for a moment, such a beautiful woman in his bed. This was going to be very hard to accomplish without taking advantage. He had to control himself.

Isaac grabbed his shirt and removed it. He crawled into the bed beside her and opened his arms for her, slowly bringing her closer until she was resting on his chest. He lifted her chin to softly kiss her lips. Isaac rubbed her back and held her close as his eyes grew heavy, and for the first time in so very long, he fell asleep in comfort.
