Chapter 35

I: Isaac was furious. For the past four years, all he did was search and wait and search and wait and start the cycle over and over again! All for Jess. Now she comes back and has one bloody argument with him, and it's over. AGAIN. He could never get a break. Just a decent break! No matter what he did, he always seemed to mess things up. Every time he tried to take control, she simply fought back like a bull! He could not stop wrestling her for every single damn thing that happened.

Isaac found himself wandering the streets again. He knew that what she had said was mostly right, but he was so stubborn that he refused to let her win this round. Isaac went to a bar to cool himself off, drank a really inexpensive bottle of gin, got drunk enough to get into a fight, and was hauled off to jail sooner than he could blink. When the Institute was notified of what had happened, Alexander sent two shadowhunters to get him, and drag him back home. Oddly, Alexander knew this state of depression had come from Isaac's inability to have the woman he truly loved. He cared for Jess so much, that it shown on his face when he was brought before Alexander.

Isaac was healed of his injuries he had received from the fight and was given back his Stele so he could get back to his old self. Now that he had been forgiven, and given another chance, he was told to rest and try to make up for lost time. Isaac was walking to his dorm when he saw Alex and Blaine leaving Jess' room, and he considered going to see her, but he knew she was still furious.

Isaac took some time to go back to his old room. He looked around the dusty, sad place, and realized that without Jess it meant nothing to him. He went to his dresser and took out the ring box he had saved, and he removed the little ring that was inside. He thumbed it softly for a moment and slipped it into his pocket. He missed her. He missed her so badly, and he didn't want to fight her anymore. He knew that this time he had to accept that he was wrong, and even though it was a hard pill to swallow, he found himself taking a shower and preparing to leave. Isaac went to her room and hesitated a moment as he used his key to unlock her door. He had gained access a long time ago, hoping that one day she would return to him, but it never happened.

Isaac slipped inside and saw it was dark, and he softly closed the door behind him. He went further inside to her bed and saw her asleep, and he sighed, loving this sight. When Jess slept, it was so much easier to talk to her, to make peace with her, and he simply wanted to be near her

Isaac knelt beside her bed, softly rubbing her sleeping cheek.

"I don't want it to be over Jess. I love you, and I can't let you go." He gently moved her hair aside and softly kissed her forehead. "I did push you away. I'm so sorry Jess. Please forgive me. I need you. I really need you. Without you I'm-I'm a broken man."

Isaac gently took her hand, and he took the ring out of his pocket. He softly slipped it onto her finger. He gently put her hand back under the covers and he stared at the nightgown she wore. He reached a hand to softly touch her body, caressing the lingerie and his warm palm grazed over her curves. He wanted to be with her so badly, but it seemed he had to be patient. Isaac refused to let her go again.

He stood and left her bedroom and closed the door behind him. He went to his room to sleep and passed out until the next day. The hunters woke him up early for his mission, and he awoke ready to start back at his old job again. When he left his room people greeted him, his old friends had to come and see if it was actually true that he had returned. He laughed with them a while and hugged them, assuring them that he was real, he was back, and he would never leave again.

B: Jess woke the next morning and found the ring on her finger. She sighed and took it off and placed it on the nightstand. She went to take a shower and got dressed for the day. She went to the library and waited for her orders. Her and Alexander were talking when a few hunters entered the room and asked about a mission. Alexander explained the target and looked at Jessie. "Jessie will be leading this hunt. She will be the one calling the shots." He said and Jessie looked shocked.

Moments later her and the three other hunters were on their way. She was talking to a male in the group about the hunt when the girl smiled. "Jessie we should all go out to get food afterwords." The girl said with a smile. Jess nodded and the four went to leave the Institute. Jessie and the girl she had learned was Amber were talking and the two guys whose names were Kile and Brandon were talking behind them. The four seemed to be really happy as they left for their big hunt.

I: Isaac had to admit that he was crushed the moment he saw Jess leaving the Institute. She was not wearing the ring, and instead of him believing it would have surprised her, or possibly inspired her, it seemed to only be tossed aside. He was trying his best to ignore it, wondering if perhaps it was a phase, but he knew that it truly was over if she did not want his ring.

Isaac waited for her to leave with the other hunters, and he used his key to go into her room. He began to search for the ring, wondering where she had thrown it, or possibly flushed it. He searched the trash, and even the toilet pipes, but then as he walked past her bed, he found it on the window sill. Zack took the ring and placed it back into the ring box and left the room and locked the door.

This was truly the end, and he had never expected this to happen the way that it did. When he left the Institute that night, he made sure to put the ring in a safe place and went on his first mission back. There was a vampire that had overstepped her boundaries, and she seemed to be nonchalant about the rules. Isaac escorted the woman into the Institute, and she had a very vivid smile on her face.

Isaac sat her down in a chair and began to record and document as he checked her in. "Alright what's your name? How long have you gone without being categorized?" He asked as he scratched things on her file.

The vampire laughed darkly. "How about you and I do something more fun?" She gently reached her hand to his to caress him softly.

Isaac moved his hand and grimaced at her attempt to flirt. "What's your name and how long have you gone without being categorized?" He said angrily and the woman pulled away in shock.

"What has you all worked up? Lost your job? Demoted? Lost a parent? Ohh....a girlfriend? Did you lose a girlfriend?" She asked but he grit his teeth at her. "How about I answer a question when you answer a question?" She asked and he swallowed hard and rubbed his temples.

"Yes..." He whispered. "I lost a girlfriend." He grabbed the pen tightly. "Name?"

She sat back in her chair and smiled. "Andra. Andra Delfleur. But you can call me Andy."

B: Jess went out with the group and they hunted. The four of them worked well together but not as well as she and Isaac had. She shook the thought as they walked into the club. They had planned on going to a coffee shop but decided to go clubbing instead.

She had been dancing with the guy named Kile. They had been talking since they killed the demon. She and Amber were becoming good friends. She found out that Brandon and her were going to be together. Kile had asked her to go on a date with her but she turned him down.

They were finished at the club and had entered the Institution and were laughing and talking. Kile had his arms around Jessie and Amber and Brandon were holding hands. Amber and Brandon left to have time alone and Kile and Jess went to the cafeteria to get food and talk. They sat there talking. Jess was smiling and so was Kile.
