Chapter 5 - Malia (3)

And if my father hasn't put pressure on me, I might do it—or if I didn't owe my boss for his help. But it's yes to both, so I have no choice. The pay here is higher than two of my previous part-time jobs combined, and tips are not counted. It would be stupid to let this pass–my father threatening me or not.

Bryce and I barely see each other because he has classes during the day. I work most evenings, and he has soccer training on my day off. He doesn't trust the atmosphere in the club, worried that men would hit on me. To his credit, he's not entirely wrong. Men have hit on me on several occasions. It's a work hazard.
