Chapter 12 - Malia (2)

The music gets louder inside, but not loud enough to make my ears hurt. The thumping of the bass is a constant boom inside me and it makes me feel a certain kind of rush. I guess I'll indulge my best friend for a moment and then I'll get back to work later.

The moment we get to the bar though, the bartenders greet me with an enthusiastic "Happy Birthday" before showing us to our table like we're actually guests paying for a table. It's something I have to consider since all Erica said was that she'd sent food and drinks; so do I have to pay for those? The table here costs a lot more than my pay for tonight's shift and it certainly won't cover the expensive menu at The Manor.

However, once we're seated, Jimmy, a server, places two bottles of beer on our table. "They're on the house, ladies. And there's food coming."

I grab his arm and whisper in his ear. "We're nineteen."
