Chapter 26 - Malia (1)

Something is different about Giovanni tonight. He's a little intense, staring at me earlier like I kicked his puppy or something. I didn't do anything to make him mad…I think. I barely talked to him since I left his office that night. He kept his distance and I kept mine. After all, he said that was a one-time thing. I may like him, but I won't force myself on someone.

I blow out a breath slowly as I approach his office door. Two of his men who are usually standing guard barely acknowledge me anymore, having gotten used to me already, and so they let me pass. I push the door open. He's perched on his desk, arms folded across his chest and legs crossed at the ankles. He looks imposing and terrifyingly handsome with that savage look in his eyes.

"Lock the door," he says in his deep voice that vibrates down my spine. I think I'm going to die tonight. Has he found out who I am?
