Chapter 44 The Birthday (Part 5)

"Ash..." Lei heard a voice say, although the image of the person who uttered the name wasn't clear.

"... referring to me?" She heard another voice deeper than the first one.

"That's how I..." The rest of the words she didn't hear but Lei felt the voices sounded very familiar.

"...to be very dangerous." The second voice said sounding serious.

"...survive." This was just a dream, Lei told herself but now she was curious about what was going on. If only she could see and hear the voices clearly.

"Lei. Lei wake up." She heard someone say and her surroundings started to turn hazy as it slowly disappeared.

Her eyes snapped open and a gasp escaped her lips. Ashton's face came into full view and she noticed a look of worry in his eyes.

"Was it a bad dream?" He asked, helping her to sit on the bed as he handed her a glass of water which she drank up immediately.

"It wasn't a bad dream." She responded to his question.

"Do you want to talk about what you saw?" He asked again gently caressing her hair.

"I don't know what I saw or heard. Nothing was clear." A small frown came to settle on her face as she tried to recall the little words she heard in the dream. " But I think there was a discussion going on. I heard a name though..."

"Name? What name?" Ashton asked as he caressed her hair slowly taking in her every expression.

"Ash." Lei said looking at him noticing the way he paused his movement and an emotion passed through his eyes but it was gone before she could identify what it was.

"Anything else?" He asked.

"Um... there was also a mention of dangerous and something else about surviving."

Ashton took in a deep breath and sharply exhaled it with his eyes closed. He pulled Lei close to him, slowly caressing her back as he hugged her.

"Ashton?"

"Hmm?"

"Do you know what the dream was about?" Lei asked carefully seeing how different he was acting because of the dream she had a minutes ago.

Ashton stopped his movement for a few seconds then resumed. "Sleep now." He whispered in her ear.

It was either he didn't know anything about the dream she had, or he did know something about it but was trying to avoid telling Lei not wanting her to know anything about it or what it meant. What ever it may be, Lei did not want to force him to tell her about it. She sighed letting the topic go and snuggled herself comfortably in his arms. Something she didn't mean to do but it had instead happened naturally.
