A Gift (2)

Could he take his words back? but if he remembered what he said earlier, it was nothing but small talk. But one more look at Prince Jacob's face with eminently pleasant expression. Adam bit his lower lip, averting his gaze as he looked down at the green grass.

"Are you worried about the gift?"

He looked up again, scratching his nape not expecting Prince Jacob to sense what he was thinking. "Ah, that, it's just, I don't know if I can buy something luxurious for someone like you, Your Highness."

Hmm, he heard Prince Jacob mutter faintly, hmmm. Waiting for the prince to say something, Adam occasionally looked behind him, if perhaps there were any servants or guards around them, but again there was no one near this place.

It was a bit odd, an important person standing here and there was no one on guard, or maybe prince Jacob had told them not to go near this place. That made sense. It was the only possibility he could think of.
