Chapter 191 : Butterflies

The rocks crunched under my feet as I made my way to the end of the gravel drive. The warm wind tickled my face and teased strands of hair out of my messy bun. It has become my signature style these days since I was sick so frequently.

My heart swelled as I watched a black car with tinted windows driving down the long road toward the beach house. I felt horrible for the way I had pushed Michael away these past few days. I knew that he was hurting just as much as I was, finding out that one of the twins may not be ours but rather his and Katie’s.

I just needed time to process everything by myself. But, deep down, I missed, and I needed my husband.

Katie hadn’t said anything after I answered the phone yesterday. My screams had sent her running quickly. The most she could muster was a pitiful apology before she hung up on me. But I didn’t want to think about that anymore. It was time to focus on Michael and me.
