Chapter 335 : Making Up

I was walking on the path toward the beach when I saw Lauren walking in my direction on another path. Damn, I thought. I really wasn’t ready to talk to her yet, but sometimes–actually a lot more than sometimes–fate didn’t cooperate with your wishes.

Like fate itself owned a deep hatred toward one’s wishes and never wished to see someone actually happy. I could see that she had seen me and was now heading toward the path that would meet mine. After a brief thought and a resigned sigh, I decided to stop walking and wait for her to catch up. It was time that we talked, and there was no point in delaying it further.

Watching her approach me, I could see a determined, confident look etched on her face. But as she drew closer, I saw that composure drain from her face. As if when she initially saw me, she had set herself to be brave, but as she had drawn closer to me, those annoying thoughts of doubt began to invade her mind and set up shop there.
