Aftermath

The sun was setting on the horizon, and nighttime was approaching.

The battle that ensued took no more than 10 minutes.

August finally took a deep breath after Rhea confirmed the deaths of all three enemies. A battle among Sorcerers was as such-quick, perilous and decisive. Due to the power of their sorceries, it was easy for one to lose their life in an instant!

August recognized this truth and resolved not to put take anything for granted in this world. He was neither happy nor sad. He rather entered a thoughtful state as he contemplated his weaknesses in this battle

He lacked sorceries! The optimized wind blade sorcery could deal good damage. However, it was an offensive, single-target sorcery and therefore was incomparable to other wind sorceries in terms of area of effect!

He also lacked a defensive spell to deal with close-ranged Sorcerers and he had to get one going forward!

August knelt beside the bodies and searched through their clothes and took their pouches. He glanced through them and saw an insignia that took the shape of an eagle. This was the symbol of the Cadogan Clan.

Just as he finished his search he heard the sounds of horses in the distance. It was Bjorn and his guards who rode towards his position.

"My job here is done you can report back to the town lord that this issue has been settled." August patted his grey robe and said calmly. "I'll leave the bodies to you, Bjorn."

The Sorcerer world like the name implied was dominated by the might of Sorcerers. Therefore although there were many kingdoms in this world, It was Sorcerers that controlled the state of affairs and mortal kings answered to them. this appliedto the town loed of Feronia town as even he had to show respect to an Apprentice Sorcerer like August!

"Yes my lord." Bjorn did not dare hesitate as he felt a chill in his heart see at the dismembered bodies of the three 'rogue' sorcerers and also felt fear at the power of this seemingly 'harmless' blond-haired youth in front of him. He instructed his guards to clean up the area and then rode back with August to Feronia town.

The next day, at the Sorcerer's tower

August returned to the tower and reported to the mission hall and verified the completion of his mission. Over there he met Sorcerer Mark, who introduced him to the tower previously, performing administrative duties.

August approached him and gave a slight bow. "Greetings, Sorcerer Mark, I have completed the rogue sorcerer mission, however, there is another issue I would like to report."

"What happened? Go ahead and speak." Sorcerer Mark lifted his eyebrow. He was a busy person and was slightly impatient.

"The sorcerers I fought with were not rogue sorcerers but were in fact members of the Cadogan Sorcerer Clan. August gave a summary of the mission.

The reason why August discussed this issue with Sorcerer Mark was that the mission hall was under the leadership of rank 0 Sorcerer Leader, Diana. She was a rank 0 elite sorcerer who was a direct disciple of Great Sorcerer Phelan and handled most of the administrative tasks and reported directly to him.

"I would like to speak to the rank 0 sorcerer leader." August was but a low-rank sorcerer who just joined recently and could only find Mark to help him meet Apprentice Leader Diana directly.

Mark gave it some thought and finally replied. "Come with me, August. I'll take you to her myself."

The seventh floor of the Sorcerer tower...

A blue-haired woman who was wearing glasses, had a thin and graceful figure and was in grey sorcerer robes that hid her amazing curves was reading some documents in her room when she heard a knock on her door.

"Come in"

Two individuals appeared before her. One was her subordinate, Mark and the other was a newbie that joined the tower recently. Naturally, she had no idea what his name was as he was too insignificant in her eyes. "What brings you here?"

Mark gave a slight bow while secretly stealing glances at the curvy shape hidden behind those robes which made his lower body start heating up. However, he tried not to make it obvious since that would be disrespectful towards an elite sorcerer so his expression didn't falter as he stated his purpose and explained the situation.

Diana was no fool. She noticed his lustful gaze fall on her from time to time but pretended to be oblivious to it. She noticed, however, that the newbie did not have a trace of lust towards her and only looked at her calmly which impressed her. She finally spoke after hearing enough.

"Are you certain of this, newbie?" Diana frowned. She knew that her master had entered seclusion and had yet to come out and was even surprised that the news was able to reach their enemy, the Cadogan Clan. If this was true then it was going to be problematic.

I'm certain" August nodded in affirmation.

Okay then. We shall investigate this matter. Your name is August, huh? To be able to complete such a task demonstrates your ability. Apart from your mission reward, I'm going to grant you a high-grade wind elemental core after we have confirmed this Intel. You are all dismissed.

August's eyes widened. A high-grade elemental core! That should be able to speed up his cultivation! "Thanks, Sorcerer Diana," he retreated from the room with Mark.

The Cadogan Clan… could there be a traitor within our midst? Diana contemplated deeply.

Outside Diana's room, he thanked Mark for his assistance, who looked at him enviously and quickly retreated to his room. Looking at his 90 points he came up with a plan. "Tomorrow, I must head to the library to see if a can exchange my points for some wind sorceries and gather up some other sorcery knowledge."

He planned to see if he could at least get either a defensive sorcery or an offensive sorcery with AOE damage. He also planned to purchase some low-grade wind elemental stones to increase his affinity and Spirit. Now that he thought of it he could not help but ask Rhea.

"Rhea, why didn't you give me a notification that I could extract the affinities of those three sorcerers?"

Rhea was silent for a while before saying "Master August, I did not notify you earlier because I could not perform the extraction. I wondered why myself before reaching a conclusion. Your Spirit is still weak. I estimate that before I'll be able to complete the first permanent affinity extraction, your Spirit needs to reach 21.

In other words you need to become a first rank sorcerer.

What??
