August and Diana

"What if changing one's path potentially amounts to death? A person's past cannot be wiped away. It remains with that person forever. Many of us have done certain things that we cannot turn back from. We are subordinates to greater powers who are unchanging," Diana said in a low tone.

"They are greedy and self-serving. We have no will of our own. Going against the status quo means risking death. We do everything to survive. Do you still believe that we can overcome that with just our will?" she asked.

August stopped walking for a moment and faced Diana directly. Diana also stared at him this time, the ripples in her eyes this time were unable to hide her desire to know his thoughts and his answer.

'It would seem like Diana was not as headstrong as I thought.'

Since she was willing to try and understand his reasoning, he did not hesitate to provide an answer.
