Charity Auction

Su Li has been extremely nervous since we entered the venue. And it has pissed me off so badly.

I don't know why I felt that, or why I did things that were so out of me.

I could have easily avoided this auction, but I even asked her out.

And the bad part or the worst part of it all is that I did everything out of my own accord.

When I should be working on my grandfather's will, and if I had been doing all of this for that very reason it would be more convincing.

I know everyone think that I don't care about anyone, it's true. I am like this.

But somehow I have started to care about her. It scares the hell out of me.

She looked absolutely breathtaking and I don't know why I had the urge to not bring her anywhere.

Even though emotions had never been my forte, I know for sure that I might start to feel something for her if this went on.

I need to stay away from her, which is absolutely impossible given task I need to complete.

So when she asks me to stay with her, I like a complete idiot complied. Of course I knew everyone will target her once I left her alone. I might not be the best to understand all of these, but I have dealt with my fair share of people. I am not unaware of all the stunts which have been pulled by these women to get into my pants.

I notice her sneaking glances in a direction every now then. When I looked over I did not find anything.

"Why are you looking there again and again?" I couldn't help and ask her.

She pointed her chin in that direction.

"That pastry is looking so delicious." She almost drools. I shake my head. She looks as if she had been starved for days.

"Who's stopping you then? Let's go." Why does she looks surprised by that?

It's not like I can't say something nice.

She picks up a blue berry pastry, and by picking up I mean she almost grabbed it as if someone is going to snatch it from her the next moment. She must have tried to act elegant at the last moment to save her image, which I don't think will help if anyone will look at her expression.

She immediately begins to eat, her eyes squinting with pleasure as she does so.

I couldn't help but smile at the scene in front of me.

Something which I am doing quite often recently with her. It's like I am helpless against her. I have no control over my emotions.

It terrifies me that I don't detest being with her because I've never felt this way before.

"It's so yummy. I am telling you, you rich people have such a luxury of eating all this delicious food in the world." She said with a pastry-filled mouth.

What's so good about a pastry that she is praising it so much?

"Do you want to try?" she brings a spoonful in front of my mouth.

Why did she even bothered to ask?

"I don't like sweets." I say.

"It's not that sweet. You will love it. Here," She looked at me with puppy eyes and I could not refuse her.

I took a bite and she looked at me with anticipation.

Just like how I imagined it is too sweet and not for me.

Afraid that I will say something bad I just nod at her telling that it was fine.

"Look, I told you it was good." She ignore me and focus on eating.

She is unaware how much of a commotion this is going to cause when people will see this. I am certain that they would not have missed such a piece of news.

I mostly don't eat in these type of occasions. Only at places where I know the food can't be poisoned. But I just did that now, and I am not repulsed by it.

After eating her pastry Su Li tried every other dish, and would praise it as if it is the most delicious thing she has ever eaten.

Despite my refusal she fed me every now and then whenever she feel something which is too good.

I should thank her for this. During this period no one came to bother me.

The auction is about to begin, so I take her to another hall where we are escorted to the VIP seats in the front.

"Do you want to buy something specific?" she asks after we settle down in our seats.

"No, why do you ask?"

"I mean why you would attend this auction if you did not had anything in your mind that you wanted." She said.

"It's a charity auction." I clarify hoping that it would answer her question. But it seems like that did not helped at all.

I explain looking at her confuse look, "Businesses need to show that they are providing to the society from time to time. I will bid on any item and the money would go to charity. In fact most of the people came here with this intention.

Even though there might be some items that are very valuable, they are still something these people can arrange easily."

"Oh, I didn't knew people do this just for show." She looks shocked.

I thought she was already aware that most businessman do charity just for show, including me.

"There is much more to it. Often times the truth is more harsh than you imagine." I tell her.

I need to convince her to start a business after all. She should be aware of how it works.

It might look that you need to just create a business through an idea, but that's just the basic thing.

The more big business, the more muddy waters.

"So you just came here for show?" There was not a slightest bit of disappointment in her tone.

Even though what she said is true, I did not liked it when she asked.

"Yeah, I am not a kind person." I might have been patient with her a lot lately, but that doesn't mean that I have changed. She needs to know that I am not the person she is thinking I am.

"I never thought you were." I looked at her, thinking that she was mocking me but the look in her eyes made me feel complicated. She seems to be assuring me.

The host starts the auction breaking our conversation and we both focus on it.

Midway the auction a blue and golden pair of bangles were introduces.

They were made with the most odd combinations, but somehow still looked beautiful.

Su Li's eyes lit up at them, and I could tell that she liked them.

"You want it?" I asked her.

She looked at me expectantly but shook her head in the next second.

"Never mind,"

"Why not?" She looked like she was about to ask me for it. I would not have denied if she did so.

"It would be expensive." It was not like I asked her to pay for it.

I look her for a second, then raise my hand to bid

Her eyes widens and I am pleased with her reaction.

She looked disappointed when she said that it was expensive.

Even though I was going to bid for it anyways, it still made me uncomfortable seeing her like that.

I can't see her like that.

Everyone enters in a fierce competition seeing that it was me who bid for it. I could tell from their reactions, they thought that this item was some kind of treasure since I wanted it. Well it looked like one too.

So to obtain it they all were trying their best. The competition was so intense, I think that they forgot for once that it was charity.

In the end no matter how hard they tried they still can't win against me.

"10 million." I said increasing the price by a million.

No one dared to compete me now.

The host announced that the item was given to me.

I looked at Su Li only to find her in shock.

I passed the box to her which I just got. She is looking at me in disbelief.

"You did not just do that." I don't know why she is saying that right now since she saw everything with her own eyes.

Even so, I respond, "I did exactly that."

She thinks for a minute then asks me "Are they for me?"

I don't understand what is going on in her head. Who else would it be for then?

I nod.

"But they are so expensive."

"I needed to buy something today anyway so you don't have to feel bad about it." I try to assure her.

The rest of the auction ends quickly.

Just as I was about to head towards the exit a guy approached us.

I think he is a CEO of some company, but I don't remember the exact details. He might not be that important if I don't remember him.

Su Li's eyes widened slightly after seeing him. Even though she was trying her best to maintain her composure, I could tell that she is anything but calm right now. I don't know why she is having such a huge reaction to him.
