1.3. Better safe than sorry

After kicking Amory out and taking a shower, I sat on the king-sized bed and opened my laptop. The first thing I had to do is to create my own company. Since the original had already signed away the company, the house and everything else, I won't be able to take it back so the only thing I can do is to destroy them.

With the system, I invested in a few thriving companies —Slynt Inc. included, unfortunately. Like that, I was sure to amass a lot of money in a short time. During that time, I searched for a company that I could acquire and reform.

Once it was done, I renamed the company with the original's mother's name, Aurora. That was what the original's had always wanted to do but couldn't because the company was a family heirloom.

His wife was everything for him and when she died giving birth, he treasured his son like a gift of life. He wanted Angel to inherit the company because he knew he was passionate with technology and chemistry. He knew that his brother only cared about profits and didn't want him to rule the company and increase the prices of medicines.

I closed my computer and laid down in bed.

Richard Lawson went home and first saw that Angel's bags were still on the ground. He frowned. He thought that Angel would come back immediately after the wedding so why were his things still there? Where was he?

He got upstairs and entered his office to drop documents off. When he was in front of his desk, he saw that his last drawer was half open.

His heart stopped.

With a trembling hand, he opened the drawer completely. A cold sweat ran down his forehead. Angel's black notebook had disappeared and he couldn't stop a scream coming out of his mouth.

Panicking, Elizabeth and Charlie Lawson ran up the stairs.

"Father!?"

"Honey!?"

Richard was sitting on the floor, face pale and sweaty. He was breathing loudly, like a bull ready to kill a toreador shaking a red flag in front of him.

His wife kneeled next to him and hugged him.

"Honey? What's happening?"

Richard took a deep breath and looked at the empty drawer.

"Angel took back his notebook. The company is ruined, now."

Elizabeth and Charlie looked at him wide eyed. They already knew that every products the company was selling were Angel's and that Richard had found Angel's notebook while they were throwing his things away. But they didn't thought that Angel would know and even found where they had hidden it.

Angel's was a genius. They won't be able to make much money without his inventions. They threw him out of the house thinking that it would be fine now that they had all his blueprints and formulas but now that they had lost it, they're screwed.

"Do we really need Angel, father? Can't we create things as good as his?"

Charlie hated Angel. He hated that Kevin would have sex with him but the only thing that made him stand it was that Angel's life would have been a nightmare after the wedding and Kevin would have finally been entirely his. He wanted to see Angel cry and heartbroken.

Kevin would always tell him that Angel's threatened him to have sex with him or he wouldn't marry him. That manipulative whore was finally going to be destroyed but after what happened at the wedding, Charlie hated him even more.

He wanted him to die in pain —and he will.

Charlie was startled when hi father screamed at him.

"Of course not, you moron! No one is as smart as him when it comes to make drugs! If we don't have that notebook, we'll be ruined!"

Elizabeth stuttered in fright.

"T-then what s-should we do, now?"

Richard stared at his hands, thinking. Then his eyes light up.

"I know! Charlie, ask Kevin to go get that notebook. I know Angel will give it to him if Kevin apologise and make him believe he still loves him. That fool is completely blind and do everything Kevin asks him to so he won't be alone."

Charlie swallowed with difficulty. He doesn't want Kevin to talk with that slut. He knows his parents thinks that Angel is naive but that's only an act. Only him knows how manipulative Angel is.

"Isn't there an other way than-"

"You'll do it or I won't let you inherit the company."

His voice was as cold as ice. Charlie nodded silently and ran out of the office as tears were running down his face.

He really thought he would be done with Angel once he turned eighteen and be happy with the love of his life but seems like it's not the case. If his father doesn't want to get rid of him then he'll do it himself —and he knows how. A crazed smile spread on his lips.

Still laying in my bed, I laughed.

Did they really think I would give my notebook to Kevin after the disaster that was the wedding? My revenge will be easier than I thought. They are the most idiotic people I've ever seen.

I laughed even harder when I heard my phone ringing. I picked up the call and answered with a bored tone.

"Yes?"

"Angel? It's Kevin."

His voice rang through the speakers making me cringe. It was really displeasing hearing that after the great show I had just watched.

"I know."

A weird silence followed. I enjoyed that awkwardness to its fullest. Honestly, I do think it's funny to make people uneasy.

"… Hum! Well, I was wondering if we could talk? You know…"

"Okay."

After giving him the name of the hotel's restaurant, I hung up. I was way too lazy to go far from here just to see that egocentric bastard. I also know that there's security cameras everywhere in this building and surely, Amory will watch them.

Not that I want him to save me like some damsel in distress if something bad happen.

It's just for more safety, okay?
