"How do you know Rogan again?" Nicole stood with her arms folded, tapping her foot on the ground.
Jack walked up to her, "Nicole, we broke up that day before you left. I am not sure if you remember that day. We went out separate ways saying no hard feelings."
Nicole eased her arms to her side and walked over to the window, staring out, "if we broke up, why am I here?"
"Because you have been through alot and me and my sister want to make sure you get treatment. After all, we both lost families."
Nicole's eyes became teary, "so you never loved me?" She said, staring out the window and looking at the tree and the rain.
"I loved you, Nicole, but we both agreed we were better off as friends."
"How do I know you are telling the truth and not just saying so because Jessica is here?"
"Jessica and I never had the connection we had. What we had was amazing. We built memories and had a great time together."
Nicole folded her arms, staring at her reflection in the window, "What happened? What changed?"
"You, Nicole, is what happened."
Jack turned around, fastened his laces, looked over his shoulder, then stood up and walked to the table.
"I am what happened? I am afraid I don't understand."
Jack walked over to her and placed his hand on her shoulder, gently squeezing it and leaning over, whispering in her ear, "so you don't remember?"
Nicole turned, and her lips touched Jack's; a rush of excitement spilled through her body like drinking a coolaid on a hot sunny day after a long jog. She pulled her head back and touched her lips using her index finger and middle finger. "I am sorry," she stared down at his lips; this brought a flashback of them holding hands in the park. The first time they met, she stared into his eyes as her heart raced. Jack stared at her in her eyes, tempted to kiss her. She placed her hand on his waist, pulling him closer by his jean pocket. Her warm hands sent shockwaves throughout his body. Was this just lust? he asked himself.
"Jack, what happened."
Jack snapped out of his daze, barely remembering what they were talking about. She was standing in front of him with her silk shorts and her white hoody with neon strips diagonal across printed in the back, her name in bold letters. It's a jacket that Jack had gotten for her twenty-first birthday. Nicole's hair was hanging loosely over her shoulder, and she wore a pair of white sneakers. Jack walked to the table's edge, "can I make you a toasted sandwich with cheese?"
Nicole had a flashback of her and Jack in the kitchen at a big white house with a burglar since he had an unforgettable scent that morning he made her breakfast. "Jack, I am having flashbacks of us, I can't remember everything, but I am slowly recovering my memory. What happened to us?"
Angela walked in, "You cheated on him. Enough of the act Nicole."
Nicole's stood there speechless, then said, "I cheated on you?"
Jack nodded; Jessica then stepped in, "I love how this whole thing unfolded in front of my eyes. I stood there listening to your arrow story, and I am surprised they even kept you around."
"Why are you allowing this?"
"Jessica, what a surprise; as always, you catch me off-guard." Angela walked up to Jessica, taking her gently by the arm, walking with her to her room.
"Now, everyone hates me," Nicole's eyes filled with tears, "why the fuck can't I remember cheating on you?"
"Maybe because you blocked out all the bad things and trying to remember the good things?"
Jack handed Nicole her toasted sandwich. She looked down at it and ran to the bathroom to throw up. Angela and Jessica came out, "is that morning sickness?"
Jack shrugged his shoulder, "I don't know, I handed her this sandwich, and she ran to the bathroom."
"We should have her tested."
"Yes, that's a great idea, Angela, especially after what happened to her. I can imagine all the trauma she experienced."
"So you told her I am taking it?"
"Why wouldn't she tell me? Jack said, "we are like family?."
"Tell you what?" It was Rogan casually dressed in a white Nike tracksuit. His hair was gelled up into spikes.
"You are looking fresh," Jack said.
"Always, man. What are you guys talking about?"
"Oh, nothing, just catching up."
"Great, well, good news, those assholes who had you locked up, we caught them. Those Taliban's had a surprise awakening."
Nicole had just walked in then, "you caught them?"
"Yes, we did," said Rogan proudly.
"You don't waste time," Jack replied.
Rogan shook his head, "not when it comes to friends and people we care about. Anyway, Nicole and Marcus, you will see I gave you both a billion to start your lives over. You can get the treatment you need, Nicole."
Nicole looked at Jack with tears and then at Angela, "Why did you tell him?"
Angela looked puzzled, "we never told him anything."
"He is the best in the world regarding finding things and getting things sorted out. He is A Level programmer. He can shut down a bank within minutes, and they won't be able to trace him. As for his sister Jessica, she is a skilled businesswoman, who can read minds and body language, and that's how she knows you are pregnant."
"Damn," Rogan bite into the toast Jack has just made.
"And you are good at just getting to the point."
"I am what ?"
"She is what?" Marcus repeated, "this is my sister you are talking about, don't come with your own psychological bullshit throwing your millions and billions around, and Jack, I would have expected you to say something than them just barging in pure love and throwing money around, yes they got rid of the assholes who done this to my sister but what about her recovery?"
Jessica pushed forward her shoulders, standing straight, pulling up her nose, "and you would think they would be thankful, pull that money back, Rogan."
Marcus walked up to Rogan, his face inches away from Rogan, "yes, pull back your money. We don't need it. My sister and I will be fine without it, and you guys. Nicole, pack your stuff. We are leaving."
"No, Marcus, your rational decisions have landed us in enough trouble."
"Everyone, let's take a breather," Angela requested.
"First, you guys are not going anywhere. Nicole and Marcus are staying with us, I promised to take care of Nicole till she recovers, and now that there is a baby in the picture, I assume she was raped."
Rogan, who was a few minutes all hot-headed and angry, looked down and felt terrible, "this innocent girl did not ask to be raped. She has been through alot."
Rogan had heard his people caught the Taliban, but others got away, and amongst those who got away, they had a criminal record of a rapist.
"Your right Angela. I am sorry for how I behaved."
Was this all an act? Marcus couldn't get himself to figure Rogan out. Was this all just an act to impress Angela? Or was he sorry?
"Enough, guys. Let's get her to the hospital."
"Dammit, I am not going to the doctor. I feel fine."
Angela walked over to Nicole with a glass of water, then ran her hand over her forehead, "I am here, Jack is here, Marcus is here, we are all here for you."
Nicole started to panic, "but what if I am, I don't want this thing inside of me."
Nicole curled up in a fertile position and placed her head on her knees, crying and shaking silently. The twins couldn't help but feel bad for her Jessica looked over at Rogan with tears in her eyes. That could have been her. Rogan walked up to Nicole and placed her hand on her back, "it's okay. We are here for you."
Angela turned her head and looked Rogan in his eyes, remembering how sweet he could be, even though he acted like a jerk and sometimes had a compassionate heart. They stared at each other for twenty seconds, and both hearts beat fast. Marcus noticed and looked over to Jack. As Jack returned his gaze, Jessica looked over at Marcus, letting out a faint smile. "We are in this together. Let's go see the doctor," said Jessica as she walked up to Nicole and stretched out her hand to lift her from the ground.
Nicole looked at Rogan and then back at Jessica, slowly reaching out her hand. Jessica walked her to the car Jack and Rogan stayed behind, Marcus never felt welcome, but he had to take care of his sister, so he went with her. Jack walked up to Rogan with his hand in his pocket, "you couldn't have killed all those assholes. My sources told me some got away."
"Jack, you haven't changed a bit, always double-checking what I do. It's like having you watch my back while I watch yours."
Jack smiled, "those assholes must die."
Jack and Rogan went to the hidden weaponry room and armed themselves. "I will drive."
Jack grinned, "I was expecting you to say that."
