Chapter 2

Classes got wrapped up in a giffy, and school was over for the day, Actually, Hampton high would be on a 30 days halt because of camping.

Camping was more of a tradition for Hampton High, dating back to decades. Every student in Hampton knew about this annual camp fest., in actual fact, some students left their school to Hampton for this annual camps.

Students of Hampton were psyched about this year's camping. Fine, they were scared at first - visualizing life in the forest for a whole month. But then, they viewed it from a different perspective. They could undeniably do anything. No parents, no grounding, no rules, except of course, rules set by the teachers who were going with them, which can't be compared to the rules they were made to put up with in their various homes.

But Luna Jenkins wasn't so happy, was she?

"Hey Luna, excited about this year's camping? If you ask me, I'm psychologically ready. It would be so much fun living without our parents for one month. I need a break from my mom, which makes me even happier I'm going for camp. She can be a real pain in the ass sometimes. Do you believe she didn't let me eat breakfast today. She keeps me grounded for the most irrelevant reasons" This was Ashley ranting.

Ashley is Luna's best friend, and high school class mate. Ashley is someone one could describe as a loquacious being. Her talkative nature bores her audiences always, but it never bores Luna Jenkins. That's probably why they've been friends this long.

"Luna? Luna, what's wrong, why do you look sad?" Ashley asked, observing Luna wasn't really paying attention to her earlier ranting.

"It's mom. She won't let me go camping with you guys" Luna confessed.

"What, why?"

"She said she can't let me be out there on my own" Luna answered.

"But that's insane. Your mom is clearly out of her mind. Hey, we should go talk to her" Ashley blurted.

"Don't speak that way about my mom Ash. I know the way to my house. Thanks" Luna said, seeking to leave.

"Luna, come on. You know I didn't mean it that way. I was just so pissed that she wants you to miss out on this year's camping. Don't I have the right to look out for my friend?"

"That's not looking out for me. And, well, apology accepted. What do we do about this? How can I get my mom to let me go camping now?" Luna said.

"Have you tried talking to her, like pleading with her, assuring her that you would be a good girl?"

"My mom didn't even let me say a word. She was all like, 'No buts, I've said what I had to'. I couldn't say anything" Luna informed Ashley.

"Let's walk home, maybe we could come up with something. Oh we would definitely come up with something. Let's go Jenkins!"

"Don't call me that!" Luna yelled.

"Whatever. Let's head out!" Ashley said, pulling Luna with her, out of the School building.

(Ashley came up with a plan while they walked)

"I've got a plan. It's definitely going to work" Ashley said, feeling bossy.

(Luna turned her gaze to Ashley in anticipation)

"Basically, we would dress like girls in the cheer leading team. Do a little cheer leading thingy for your mom. She's going to feel all cheerful-ish, and boom, you walk up to her, give her some of your really emotional speeches, you could even cry while pleading. She definitely would budge, and is gonna be like, 'You know what Luna. Off you go'. Ha ha. I'm a genius, aren't I?" Ashley explained her plan in details.

"They're like so many things that can't work in your proposed plan. Girls from the cheerleading team? I ain't a cheerleader. What thingy are you talking about? And my mom can be stubborn sometimes, or she might not even pay attention to us" Luna said.

"You're forgetting you have me Luna. I'm Ashley, Queen garrulous, talented member of Hampton high cheerleading team, and perfect planner. I would get you the clothes, teach you the dance steps, and we could execute the plan" Ashley did not back down just yet.

"Alright. Let's give it a try. Have it your way"

"Thanks Luna, for letting me help you. I love helping my friends, not that I have any other friend. Well, it's just you, and I'm happy about that" Ashley said.

"Okay okay, let's get this over with first, yeah?"

Ashley took Luna to her home, where they both showered, and put some cheerleading clothes on. Ashley did her best to teach Luna the moves but Luna Jenkins wasn't one to learn how to dance with just a few classes. Ashley wasn't one to back down either, so she put in her best, even if it needed force, to teach Luna some amazing moves. Time was running out though, they had to wrap training up, and do the main stuff, which is convincing Luna's mom to let Luna go for camping.

"Alright. We should get going now" Luna proposed.

"Totally. Let me have a quick shower again, and put some more makeup" Ashley replied.

"What! Come on Ash. I know you have a crush on Shane, but it's not about you now. It's me Ash. It's running late, and my mom doesn't allow night visits, except you want to sleep over. You know that" Luna informed.

"Okay okay, let's go Luna"

*****(Jenkins Home)******

"One two three four. Hampton girls we got the wheel" Ashley sang.

The girls rushed into the sitting room where Mrs Jenkins was chilling comfortably on the couch with her phone in her hands, watching some tik tok.

Ashley was flexible as fuck, so she had no issues moving her body at a swift pace. But Luna, however, wasn't doing a good job. She kept stepping on Ashley's feet, and her dance moves was what one could tag as terrible with a hashtag in front.

"Wh--at. What is going on girls. What's all these, and Luna, you should work on your moves. They're terrible. Why are you girls dressed like this, what's going on?" Mrs Jenkins asked.

Luna quickly sank her knees to the floor, and pleaded with her mom, while, of course, Ashley kept up her cheerleading display.

"Mom, I really want to go for this camping. You don't have to worry about me. The School assured us that all will be well, and we would all be taken care of. You have to understand that your little Luna is growing up mom. You can't keep her under you for ever. Let me go mom please, for so many reasons. Please mom, I love you!" Luna poured out her heart with drops of tears coming out from her eyes.

Mrs Jenkins sighed, looking confused, looked at Luna on her knees, seeing how much this means to her, also feeling impressed by the show they just displayed.

"Luna. Look at me. I love you, I want the best for you. You just have to trust me on this Luna. I wish you could..." Mrs Jenkins paused her sentence, as she watched Luna get on her feet, crying, and running to her room.

The atmosphere suddenly became tense. It was just Mrs Jenkins, and Ashley in the sitting room now.

"Hi Mrs Jenkins. I figured I didn't say hi since I came. Uhmm this isn't probably a good time, so I should get going. Bye Mrs Jenkins" Ashley ran off.

Mrs Jenkins stood there, feeling sorry for Luna. For some reasons, she couldn't let Luna go, but Luna, her 14 year old female teenage daughter wasn't listening.
