Chapter 10

It's another day in Moore's creek, and Hampton High seemed happier today. Some announcements had to be passed, so all students formed a gathering on the usual spot.

"Well hello Hampton. Good to see y'all pretty faces. Today, we gon' do something even more fun - we gon' play a game. Being part of this sophisticated school and also will be part of the contestants, I played no part in organising this game. I'll hand over to the Camp counsellor, so he can explain more. Give it up pretty faces for Mr. Roberto!" Tristin left the spotlight for Roberto.

"Y'all have an idea about this game. In fact, I'm pretty sure you've played it so many times, in so many scenarios, but you've never played it in Moore's creek. Its going to be tougher, more challenging than any other treasure hunt you've been in. As Tristin Martinez rightly said, he knows nothing about the game setups, just so y'all can play fairly. I and the teachers took it upon ourselves to set up this game, plant the treasure somewhere y'all would find difficult to reach, if not impossible. So, get in groups, with your hunting clothes on, and go find that treasure!"

The students hurriedly left for a change of clothes, and came back to get some more feedback.

"I'm glad y'all are back already. It's day time in Moore's creek, your treasure hunt should be easier because of the sunlight, but it won't. For any games we play, or activities we do, that require you to get into groups, it would be the orginal campfire friends. We don't have to go through all that sorting again, creating different groups for different games and activities" Roberto informed.

Since it was the original camp fire friends that would be on the same group for each games including this one, Luna Jenkins would be spending quality time with Tristin Martinez through out camp.

The students got in groups the instant Roberto passed the information, and currently, they were waiting for the rules of the game.

"Okay, I see forty groups now, which is perfect. On this treasure hunt, as y'all should know, you'd be searching for a box filled with treasure. On the top of the box would be inscribed, Hampton Hunters, so you know it's not just any box filled with treasure that you may find that is the main box you're looking for. Be cautious, there could be traps, where the main stuff lies. So be on guard, don't get carried away with your conversations. The winner would be greatly rewarded. Good luck! Oh right, you could see clues lying around anywhere, so keep those cute eyes of yours opened, okay. Go go Hampton!" Roberto concluded, indicating for them to start.

Tristin took his group aside, having a few words for them before they went hunting.

"Yo beautiful people. We have to win this. Our major threat is my cockhole of a friend Carlos's group. Hell, Shane is even in that group. Come on beautiful people, we gotta be united on this. I know we got this, we just have to work our butts off"

"Yeah Tristin, we feel you. Let's go get that treasure!" Aidan encouraged.

"And bring the trophy home!" Tristin added.

Luna made no contributions, she just dawdled along, making really slow steps. She wasn't particularly interested in hunting, she only wanted to spend time with Tristin, do something together with him, and this was an opportunity.

(Luna, I know you don't like hunting for some shit stashed away in some pit or whatever. But you're in Tristin's group. You can pretend to be into hunting, just to be close to him) Luna thought.

Luna Jenkins in response to her thoughts, rushed to Tristin, making sure she was really close to him.

"Hi Tristin, so what are searching for exactly?" she asked, making up the genuinely interested face.

"I dunno, that's why we are here, to find it" Tristin replied, focusing on the forest, rather than on Luna.

Luna was bored watching Tristin and the others manoeuvre the forest, searching for whatever the fuck they were searching for.

"We can't keep up like this" Luna mentioned.

"What do you mean?" Tristin asked, his eyes didn't even move to Luna's direction.

"I mean, we should be looking for a clue or something, rather than just digging through this soil, cutting through these bushes, in attempt to find whatever it is we're searching for"

"You don't even know what we're looking for. Do you even know why we're here?" Tristin scolded in form of a question.

Luna didn't say anything, well, she had nothing to say. One suddenly turns dumb when one's crush scolds one for the first time. Even if the scolding wasn't exactly directly.

"But you made an awesome suggestion Luna. Guys, change of plans. Let's look for clues instead, whatever that could lead us to the main treasure" Tristin informed his group.

(At least he likes my idea, he even told the whole group. Nice! Try again Luna) She thought.

"Uhmmm Tristin, so do you like do this on a regular, I mean, what are like your hobbies?" Luna asked.

"Hey do you see that right there?" Tristin ignored Luna not deliberately though.

"Where?" Juliana Rose, one of the members of the group, who seemed to be interested in this treasure hunt asked.

"Yeah I see it, right there, on the tree's bark" Harold, also another member of the group notified.

"That's our clue!" Tristin yelled.

"Well then we should go get it" Juliana suggested.

Aidan, who was engrossed in this, studied the clue from a distance.

"It could be a trap, you know" Aidan said, for the whole group to be cautious.

"Or not. I recall Roberto asking us to look for clues" Tristin recalled.

"Yeah, he also asked us to be careful of traps" Aidan reminded.

"Who knows what trap could be lying around that clue" Juliana said.

"Well, we can't wait around to find out" Tristin attempted to move closer to the clue, but he paused when he saw some dude from another group rush to the clue.

This dude rushed to get his hands on the clue, without careful observation, and well, he got to be the first person to be trapped in a human size, plastic like basket sealed to the mouth, but had openings for air to come in.

"Shit. Somebody help!" He screamed.

Aidan turned to the whole members, expecting them to say something.

"I'm not one to say I told you so, but well, I told you so, didn't I?" Aidan chuckled.

"You were right Aidan. We shoulda listened. Team, this is what unity is all about. Whatever decisions we make next, must be accepted by everyone in this group before we can execute them"

"Noted" Harold replied.
