Chapter 42

In that fleeting moment, my mind raced as I weighed the options—should I focus on capturing the creature or lend assistance to Quinby against the mysterious newcomer?

Fortunately, Cephas, the unexpected visitor, made the choice for me. He discarded his bags and joined the fray, rushing toward the beast.

Together, with newfound determination and combined strength, Cephas and I successfully subdued the animal.

The three of us divided the animal into manageable portions and grilled them over the crackling fire. While we patiently waited for the meat to cook, we tended to our wounds using the supplies from Quinby's first-aid bag.

During the process, we discovered that Quinby had sustained a fracture in her leg during the intense struggle. As the adrenaline subsided, she began to feel the throbbing pain.

"I believe it's best if you try to limit movement for your leg, Quinby," I advised gently.
