Chapter 44

I rushed through the dense woods, a mix of determination and worry fueling my pounding heart. Returning to these haunting woods, my mission was to save Cephas. Failure would leave a scar on me, much like Roxy's death had done.

Each step carried the weight of responsibility, my mind focused solely on reaching Cephas before time ran out.

As I approached the final location, a sudden rustling in the underbrush caught my attention. Instincts kicked in, and I cautiously advanced, scanning my surroundings for any signs of danger.

My eyes widened at the horrifying scene unfolding before me.

A monstrous beast, covered in matted fur and armed with jagged, razor-sharp claws, towered over a fallen newcomer. He was the second-ranked newcomer from the previous evaluation, the one who had obtained the hunting bag. I couldn't remember his name.
