CHAPTER 48 Escape

  Emma's POV

Stepping into my closet I quickly pack a bag with just a few days' clothes in it and tuck it behind my dresser where it can't be seen. Throwing on my normal pajamas I curl up on the couch that is in the bedroom. Sleeping in the bed is too dangerous. Ethan may feel me get out in the middle of the night... if he is even here.

Every other night Ethan has come back to the bedroom by now but tonight is different. Something feels different. Emily said that she would try to keep him distracted for as long as she could. I shake my head not wanting to know she plans on keeping him distracted.

'He isn't ours anymore,' my wolf says calmly in my mind. 'We must protect our pup.'

Deep down I know that she is right. He belongs to Emily now. That was made clear the day that he forced me to sign the divorce papers. I roll over on the couch and face the back waiting for the clock on the wall to chime midnight.
