CHAPTER 33

It was strange, running with Gabriel by my side and his men flanking us from all sides. It almost felt like I was in a pack again, but this time the pack was actually there to protect me, not keeping me from escaping. At least Elijah had calmed down and was now looking around with curious eyes that kept going to Gabriel.

My mate kept his eyes peeled, ears twitching at every louder nose as if ready to jump and protect us at the first sight of danger. My crushing guilt squeezed my throat and I tripped, almost falling along with Elijah. Gabriel’s head snapped toward me and he moved closer, his body brushing against mine as if he was planning to support my weight as we ran.
