CHAPTER 37

  I clenched my teeth, staring through the window facing the front porch where Stella was setting Elijah down and helping him get into the car, when the door to the room opened. I didn’t look away, I watched her turn around and stare at me, her expression unreadable.

  Her friend’s hand touched the small of her back, guiding her to the passenger’s seat and my wolf wailed in anger, making my whole body bristle. I forced myself to sit still, to stare at her until she finally tore her eyes away and slipped into the car. The human circled the car, disappearing into the vehicle and driving a little too fast to be safe for them.

  “You are an idiot!” Graham snarled at me and I didn’t contradict him. “We went through all of that to get her! To get them! We made an enemy of your brother — for her! And now you’re letting her go?”
