Chapter 37(A glass half full, Corianne)

Corianne lay idly in bed staring at the blue canopy roof. She glanced at the grandfather clock on the wall, and it was only eight o’clock. She was still buzzing with excitement from the afternoon. She looked at the pair of metal leg braces by the edge of her large bed. They were gifts from Thorne from his trip. He helped her try them before supper. She couldn't walk in them without the help of her crutches or support from someone else. She didn't care how long it took, but she was going to walk on her own when she got used to it. She could even start riding again.

Maybe she could try it tomorrow morning, her brain buzzed excitedly.

She was too restless to go to bed. She was like a child with a new toy. All she wanted to do was slip into those braces and go for a walk.

Yes, a walk. She abruptly sat up with her mind made up.

“Hannah, give me a hand,” she called out to the maid quietly seated by the window.

Hannah placed down the small book she was reading and stood up.
