Honey, you never loved me

The maids hurried to the threshold when Vanessa arrived. One took off her stilettos and another one slipped flip flops into her feet while the third one took her trench coat and purse. Vanessa sauntered to her room and upon opening, she found Almond holding their marriage photo portrait.

"Where have you been? I tried to get hold of you on the phone but it was pointless." Almond muttered placing the portrait back on the mirror countertop.

"Someone cares huh?" She chuckled.

"You haven't yet answered my question, where did you sleep last night?" Almond grabbed her arm but loosened his grip immediately when her clothes leaked with the mixture of alcohol and smoke.

"You wasted yourself last night and God knows where you slept. What kind of a woman are you?" He reprimanded her.

"You have no right whatsoever to talk to me like that!" Vanessa retorted back.

"I'm your husband and you're my wife!"

"Oh really? The last time I checked you were living on your own. You barely touch me and now you claim that I'm your wife, have you lost it?" She held her arms akimbo amused by Almond's sudden concern.

"Is that why you slept with the ranch manager? Just because I couldn't bear to get intimate with you. Vanessa, you'll never change."

"I can't do this right now, get out!" Vanessa yelped at him.

"So it's true? You sired a child with a mere cowboy. Why did you get rid of it when you could run away with him? You're so cynic!"

Almond threw shades at her and she deliberately ignored his ranting.

"I'm not a stone Almond, I'm a human being and I have feelings. If you fail to do your job someone else will do it for you." She sneered at him.

"I can't stand you! There's no day that passes by that I don't regret marrying you. I think it's time this drama got to end."

"What are insinuating?" Vanessa asked him.

"My lawyer will be here first thing tomorrow morning then we can settle the divorce." He uttered.

"On what grounds?"

"Infidelity."

"What evidence do you have to support your allegations?"

"Someone is willing to testify."

"Are you using our son against me? What kind of a father does that?"

"Wait, Shark knows all about this? So I'm the only one who has been kept in the dark." Almond shook his head with disbelief.

"You're not going to divorce me. Your arguments are baseless. Everyone is going to side with me because I tried hard to love you. How many nights did I stay awake waiting for you huh! You don't have the slightest idea how it feels to douse your desires and wants just because you're married. I tried Almond....I tried to save this marriage...."

Vanessa's voice trailed off as tears took over. She leaned against the wall for support and sobbed hard. Almond was taken aback by her confession. He had been so insensitive towards how she felt for him.

"If you love her that much why don't I kill you! That way you two would unite and live a happy ever after." Vanessa reached out for a gun and threatened to shoot him.

"Vanessa, we can talk about it. Put the gun down!" Almond took out his phone and tried to contact his son. He didn't know how to handle his wife alone.

"Honey, you never loved me. I'm doing you a favor, let me kill you." Vanessa drew closer to him and trailed her hands on his firm chest. Almond flinched and she laughed out loud.

"See! You're afraid of me touching you. You denied me the right to be happy Almond. I can't watch you pour out all your love to the woman lying six feet under. I want you to play the piano for me just like you do to her. I want your love, is it too much to ask?"

Vanessa dropped the gun and Almond forgot about calling Shark. His focus shifted to the woman unbuttoning his shirt.

"One move and you're dead. Just let me do my job, will you?" Vanessa gawked at him. Almond balled his hands into fists as Vanessa played with his chest. They had made love twice while drunk and he forgot all about it. It was so hard for him to let go of his childhood sweetheart Marina. She was the reason why he couldn't get intimate with Vanessa. Her death was a blow to him and since then his heart has been numb despite marrying Vanessa.

He stood rooted to the ground as she worked her way down to his trouser. "Why is your junk up when you don't love me?" Her question made him look at himself, his little monster had poked out on his trouser. This was knew to him because he was sober and in his right mind compared to when he had made love to her while in the alcohol haze.

"Can we not do this?" Almond was already begging, something he had never done before.

"You don't get to divorce me and I'll let you go."

"Fine! Leave me already...." He hissed.

Vanessa moved a few steps backwards and he walked out of her room without bothering to look at her. Vanessa sat on the vast bed her heart aching so badly for having to be rejected the yet again. What she didn't know was the fact that Almond felt guilty for not telling her the whole truth about Marina. It was time he let go of her memory and rebuild his family anew.
