Chapter 3

I looked at the stuffed animal and smiled bitterly. Then my phone started ringing, I picked it up. "hello?" i answered, the person on the other side said, "hi its Silas from work. Everyone from work wanted to invite you to join us at my house for a party." I was about to refuse when he said "we're not going to do anything to you, this party is an apology party thrown for you"

"… what?" I said after a moment of silence. I was stunned, no one has ever bothered to apologize to me. I was still of course wary and cautious, they have tormented me for years. I wasn't about to let my guard down after all that. "So can I take that as a 'yes I'm going'?" Silas asked. Well even if they were planning something i doubt i can refuse. "Fine," I said after a while. After that we finished saying goodbye and ended the call. He gave me the time when the party was going to be held, so I looked at the clock. It wasn't that long till the party so I started to get ready.

I walked in the house and was greeted by a scene of people all facing me. It seemed like they were all waiting for me. I awkwardly said hello and so did they. One by one people started to approach me and apologize. Some people explained that the chief had told them that they would get the same treatment I did if they treated me well, so they were forced to either ignore me or bully me. 30 minutes in, and I looked around to see who attended the party. I made eye contact with the chief. I was surprised he showed up at the party, since he was one of the main reasons people would treat me badly. He quickly looked away from me and seemed to be feeling guilty. This was probably one of the best days of my life. Everyone seemed to be very genuine with their efforts. Most people that have experienced the kind of trauma I have, don't trust people that much. With me, if I see that they're genuinely trying to change I'll give them a chance. As I do want a friend or two. The party lasted 2 hours and I talked to a lot of my coworkers. I don't know if i'll be able to forgive them but i can still try to interact with them and build a better relationship with them.

So much had happened in one day it was crazy. I walked into my room and plopped on my bed. For a while I didn't move and just sat there just thinking about what had happened. "Maybe my life can be a little better than it has been," I said, full of hope. It was getting late so I decided to go to bed. "Don't let me wake up only to find out this is only a dream" I prayed before I went to sleep.

*time skip/in the morning*

*RING* The sound of my alarm woke me up. I looked at the time and it was 6:30. I got up from my bed and started getting ready for work. After I finished that I went to the kitchen and ate breakfast, which was just cereal. I don't usually have a very nutritious breakfast and it's not something I used to really focus on. By the time I finished my breakfast it was 7:25. So I went to work.

*time skip/at company building*

I walked in and was greeted by some coworkers. Their attitude was really different from the past so it was really nice. I walked to my desk and started working. While I was working I noticed that I had less work to do than usual. A lot of the work wasn't even mine, it was some of my coworkers' work that they pushed onto me. I finished my work early so I had nothing to do. Luckily it was almost lunch time so I excused myself and went to lunch early after getting permission. I decided to go to a cafe and have lunch there. After that lunch ended I went back to my desk but there was nothing to do so I looked around and saw that a coworker was having trouble with their work. I went over to them and asked them if they wanted help. "Sure thanks!" She thanked me. Her name was Diana. So I spent some time explaining it to her. I knew how to do her work because I remember doing this kind of thing for a coworker. "Wow, thanks ! I totally understand it now." she exclaimed.

"You're welcome," I replied. I could see some people looking at us and then eventually they started asking for my help to which I agreed. So just like that I spent the rest of the day helping them and explaining stuff to them. Soon it was 3:00pm so I went home.

I got home and was kind of hungry so I went to the kitchen and got a snack. While eating the snack I looked at my phone and saw that I had a lot of unread text messages from coworkers. After work today some of them gave me their numbers. I looked at the text messages and… " they were all thank you messages?" I said a little bewildered, because of the messages I got that day I went to bed feeling really happy.

*Time skip/a few months later*

Through those few months my relationship with my coworkers had gotten a lot better than at the beginning. At the start it was really awkward but now it isn't like that at all. I even became pretty good friends with that girl Diana, along with some other coworkers. My reputation has become really good too. Probably because I would help them if they had any questions or were having trouble with something.

Overall my life was finally becoming good. I made friends at coffe shops and online friends and some friends at work. My life was coming together but then… "I HATE YOU AND YOUR PERFECT SELF!!!" A girl could be heard screaming at someone and insulting them.
