Tenth Meal - Barbeque skewers (Part 3)

"No."

As soon as the firm voice that said this fell, an annoyed voice said, "I'm already fine, why are you treating me like a helpless child?"

The first voice said, "You still need to rest and recover. It was very hard on your body giving birth, so you need to lie down and rest right now. But instead of doing that, you keep insisting on coming to this restaurant."

These two voices naturally belonged to Flora and her father.

Sitting with them was Ah San who had an awkward smile on his face.

He wanted to support Flora, but he also agreed with his father in law that she shouldn't move around too much.

But Flora wouldn't back down no matter what.

Flora said in a firm voice, "I'm coming back to work next week anyway! What does it matter if I move around or not?"

When he heard this, Flora's father couldn't help revealing a hurt look. That was because once she came back to work, she would bring her newborn daughter with her and leave their world again.

He had been filled with joy these past few weeks having her back at home, but now that happiness was about to be cut short.

So in a sense, this wasn't just about keeping her safe, but also about keeping her at home for as long as he could. This was her little girl, it was only normal that he wanted her to stay with him.

In fact, it was all this damn restaurant's fault.

If she had never gone through that door and come to this restaurant, none of this would have happened…Of course, that would also mean that he wouldn't have gotten a granddaughter, so that was the tiny regret that he felt.

His granddaughter…was just too cute after all!

But he really felt the urge to destroy this restaurant, if only he had the courage.

If it wasn't for Flora explaining and acting as a guarantor for her father, her father would have already been kicked out of the restaurant and banned.

That was the elven king, Oberon's story in this restaurant.

Seeing that they had reached a stalemate, Ah San broke the silence by saying, "Honey, father in law, how about we compromise and all come together. We can bring mother in law and everyone else along with us. That way we can take care of Flora if anything happens." Then after a pause, he added, "We can also bring Liu Li with us and she can visit this world for the first time."

This was his bit of selfishness in making this suggestion.

After all, since his daughter had been born, she had never been to this world.

His in laws had completely monopolized her in their world, but he couldn't say anything. She would be living in this world with Flora and him, so they wouldn't get any time with her in the future.

So he wanted to let them have this little bit of time with her before she left.

Of course, they would still go back on vacation and such, but it would still be long periods of separations for them.

Flora said with an excited look, "Honey, that's a great idea! It's been a long time since my mother and my little sisters have been to the restaurant!"

At the same time, Oberon slapped the table and said, "Absolutely not!"

He didn't give a reason, he just gave this strong rejection.

Of course, it was also for selfish reasons.

The last time that his wife and kids had come to this restaurant, he had seen the looks on their faces. It was clear that they had been greatly enticed by this restaurant just like Flora had been.

If he didn't keep a firm grip on them, they might leave him just like Flora had!

Ah San Hu had an awkward smile on his face when he heard this. He raised his hands in defense, but he didn't say anything as he just let Oberon insult him.

He was being the bigger person because he knew that his father in law had suffered because of their actions.

Most importantly, he wanted to get closer to his father in law.

Oberon kept complaining until Flora finally dealt the final blow to him.

"If you keep acting like this, Liu Li won't want to talk to you either in the future."

Flora might have whispered this under her breath, but the ears of Oberon had still heard these words.

When he heard these words, it felt like he had been punched in the chest and he completely deflated.

Just the simple words of this daughter of his had completely knocked the wind out of his sails.

After all, this was his greatest fear as both a father and a grandfather. It wouldn't just be Liu Li that he would be losing, but also Flora.

But in the end, it was all deserved because of how he acted!

Ah San could see the look on his face and he said, "Father in law, let's have a family dinner tomorrow. My parents will also be coming."

He revealed his card in the end to help Oberon even though there was the chance that he would gain hatred from him from trying to manipulate him.

That was the sacrifice that he made in the end.

Oberon immediately narrowed his eyes when he heard this and he looked at Ah San. He was the wise king of the elves and only in front of his daughter would he act this way.

But that didn't mean that he was any less wise than he normally was.

He could easily see through Ah San's plan from before.

After a long period of silence, he said in a sharp voice, "You, you wanted to…"

Before he could finish though, Flora had already said, "Ah, mother in law and father in law are also coming?"

Ah San nodded and said, "They've already been asking to see Liu Li, so I figured that we can all get together for the festival tomorrow. After all, it has been a long time since we've all been together."

Flora revealed a happy smile and hugged Ah San as she said, "It really has been a long time since we've all been together."

Then she turned to Oberon and asked, "Daddy, aren't you excited to see honey's parents too?"

Oberon had been glaring at Ah San, but hearing this and the way she called him, his expression couldn't help changing. It had been a long time since he had heard her call him this, so the moment that he heard this, his heart couldn't help filling with joy.

So after an awkward cough, he said, "On behalf of our in laws, I won't make it hard on you. We'll bring everyone here so that we can have a family dinner." Then he added in a sharp voice, "But just for a single night!"

Flora however happily held Oberon in her arms as she said, "Yay, thank you daddy!"

Oberon's heart fluttered and he had no regrets even if he were to die right now.

Of course that was exactly what Flora was aiming for when she did this.

She was the daughter of the wise elven king, so how could she not be smart herself?

The moment that she heard Ah San's suggestion, she already knew what he was planning. She had also been touched when she heard this because she knew what kind of sacrifice Ah San was making for her and her father.

So she did her part in playing along.

As her father's daughter, naturally she knew how to play him like a card.

The three of them quickly started eating their food and talking in harmony.

Yami had been watching them from the corner of her eye the entire time.

When Oberon had acted up earlier, she had glared at him to give him a warning, which was why he had toned back his voice.

After all, this was her store and she wouldn't let anyone bully her employees. Even if it was the employee's father.

But seeing that they had settled down, she walked off with a faint smile on her face.

She went to the kitchen where Lin Fan was cooking and teased him, "Isn't it about time that we started a family as well? How about we start trying tonight?"

Lin Fan's spatula couldn't help slipping when he heard this and the other cooks also couldn't help being surprised. However, they all knew how dangerous it was to tease Yami, so they all acted like they didn't hear a thing.

Lin Fan looked at her with a confused look, but seeing the look in her eyes, he could guess what she was thinking.

So the only thing that he responded with was a nod.

But deep down, he had some worries.

After all, they had been married for a long time and they had been trying to have a child for a long time. It wasn't as if they hadn't been doing anything…they had even tried going to fertility treatment.

But Yami was a demon after all and there was a difference in biology between them.

The doctors had said that it was possible in theory for them to have a child, but…

They didn't know how long it would take since it seemed like there was some incompatibility issues.

They had been offered donors, but Yami had firmly rejected it. She had said that if it wasn't from them, she wouldn't accept it.

So the only thing that they could do was continue trying, but…

Hopefully, it would work tonight.

After all, there was the precedence of it happening between an elf like Flora and a human like Ah San, so there was no reason why it couldn't happen to them.
