Twelfth Meal - Peaches of Immortality (2)

Everyone was caught off guard by this sudden move by the monk, but they weren't worried at all.

After all, they had full faith in Yami's abilities.

That faith didn't let them down.

After being surprised by this sudden attack by the monk, Yami suddenly raised her hand and deployed a dark glow that she also shot out at the golden glow.

When the two of them clashed, there wasn't even a single second of hesitation as the golden glow was shattered to pieces by the dark glow. However, the dark glow didn't stop there as it continued flying forward towards the monk.

The monk was surprised to see this, but he didn't stop chanting.

As he chanted, there was another golden glow that came from his mala beads and soon surrounded him, creating a golden buddha barrier around him.

This golden buddha barrier clashed with the dark glow, but this time it didn't shatter right away like the golden glow had done.

Instead, it was able to keep the dark glow at bay for a few seconds.

But at the end of those few seconds, it still shattered like the golden glow and the dark glow was just as strong as ever.

After shattering the golden buddha, the dark glow was flying unimpeded towards the monk.

The monk had a look like he had accepted his fate when he saw this.

He wasn't able to do anything else in time…

It seemed like this demon truly was too powerful for him to exorcise.

As the monk was about to close his eyes, there was a sudden red arc that appeared in front of him. This red arc started where the monkey was and ended where the dark glow was.

It was the monkey's red stick!

This was a special stick that could change its size at will that the monkey had received from the gods after he had impressed them with his knowledge, so it definitely wasn't a weak weapon.

However, when it clashed with the dark glow that was flying towards him, the monkey's red stick was actually…blown back by the dark glow.

At the very least though, the dark glow was deflected by the monkey's red stick and flew past the monk instead of right into him.

Right before the dark glow was about to hit the door behind them, Yami waved her hand and it disappeared into nothing.

Both the monk and the monkey suddenly fell onto their butts after the dark glow disappeared.

This had been a casual move from Yami, but it had taken all of their energy to deal with it.

Both of them could only accept their fates as they looked up at Yami who was slowly coming towards them.

The monk had a look like he had already accepted death, but the look on the monkey's face looked like it wanted to fight to the very end.

But Yami didn't raise a hand to deal with them. Instead, she looked at them and asked, "Why did you attack me?"

The monk was surprised to see that Yami didn't kill him right away, so he gave a bow and answered, "I sensed the aura of a great evil coming from you. It is my duty as a monk to rid the land of such evil for the good of the people."

Then he looked back up at Yami, looking right into her eyes and said, "I won't apologize for my actions, but they are my actions alone. I hope that you will let the monkey go."

The monkey was about to stand up and say something, but the monk used his hand to push her back down again.

Yami looked right into the monk's eyes and seeing the look in them, she gave a nod before saying, "You're right about how I have the aura of a great evil since I was once a demon king, but that was in the past. I'm no longer the same person I was before. Just like how people can be good and bad, it is the same with demons. I hope that you will open your heart."

The monk was about to say something, but then his mouth suddenly closed as he swallowed his words.

His eyes couldn't help opening wide as he looked at Yami.

The black aura that he had seen around Yami had suddenly turned into a white aura that was no different from the ones he could see around normal people.

This was a phenomenon that he had never seen before and he couldn't understand what it meant.

But there was one thing that was clear, she didn't seem to be lying.

After sitting on his butt in a daze for a few minutes, the monk finally bowed his head and said, "Benefactor, I apologize for my actions. Please punish me however you see fit."

He wouldn't apologize before since his morales wouldn't allow him to apologize to this great evil, but after recognizing that he was wrong, he didn't have any qualms about apologizing.

That was because he was indeed the one that had been in the wrong by suddenly attacking without understanding the situation.

Yami just waved her hand and said, "It's all a misunderstanding in the first place, so there's no need to take it that seriously." But then she turned to look at the monkey before saying, "But it seems like your little friend here doesn't want to let matters end here."

The monkey had been glaring at Yami the entire time, as if she wanted to attack her.

Seeing that Yami was finally talking to her, the monkey said, "Don't get too cocky you old hag! I bet that you're just angry that you're already sagging that you're taking it out on us! You won't be able to reclaim your youth by venting your anger out on us!"

The monkey had already lost herself in rage that she was just shouting out whatever she wanted to shout without even thinking about the consequences.

After she said this, the entire restaurant fell silent as no one dared to even breathe too loudly.

Everyone was staring at Yami with their hands over their mouths.

As for why their hands were over their mouths, they were trying to cover up their laughter as much as possible.

Yami's lips couldn't help twitching when she heard these words and then her face started turning darker.

It was at this time that there was a stifled laughter that suddenly rang out.

Yami's dark gaze immediately fell onto the culprit and they shrank back into their chair, trying to make themselves as small as possible.

Yami then turned back to the monkey with a dark smile on her face as she said, "It seems like our little friend here hasn't learned her lesson yet."

Then without hesitation, she walked towards the monkey who was still sitting there on her butt.

The monkey couldn't help scooching back when she saw Yami approaching her.

Even if she acted tough, she wasn't a fool and could see the difference between the two of them. Even if she were to go all out, she knew that she wouldn't be able to take down Yami.

As she scooched back, she couldn't help saying, "Oi, old hag, what are you doing? Don't, don't come any closer."

But Yami completely ignored her as she came closer step by step.

Then all of a sudden, Yami disappeared.

When she reappeared, she was right behind the monkey.

The monkey was still looking around for Yami when she was suddenly picked up by Yami by the collar.

The monkey tried struggling, but she couldn't break free from Yami's iron grip.

Then Yami…took the monkey and put her over a single knee before raising a hand…almost as if she was going to…

In front of everyone, Yami's hand fell down right on the monkey's…

The monkey was still saying, "Let me go, let me…"

"Pa!"

The monkey's head suddenly went up as she shouted in pain, "Ah!"

Yami didn't stop after the first slap as her hand came up once again before falling down.

Her hand fell down on the monkey's butt again and again, making crisp slapping sounds along with pained cries from the monkey.

The monkey couldn't help crying when she was being spanked by Yami.

This was her first time in her long life being treated like this and she didn't know how to react, but her reaction in the end…was very surprising.

Instead of remaining tough, she actually broke down.

She started crying and apologizing as Yami slapped her. It even reached the point where Yami even felt too awkward to keep spanking her.

So she finally stopped and let the monkey go, but before she could react, the monkey suddenly jumped up and grabbed Yami in a hug. She put her head in Yami's chest and said while crying, "I'm sorry mommy, I won't do it again."

Yami and everyone around couldn't help revealing awkward looks on their faces as they couldn't react to what was happening.

But still, dealing with this crying monkey, it wasn't as if Yami could keep up her cold facade.

So she reached her hand out and patted the monkey on the back to comfort her.

After a few minutes, the sobbing from the monkey slowly came to a stop before she suddenly pulled her head out of Yami's chest. She looked up at Yami who was holding her and slowly but surely, there was a blush that appeared on the monkey's face.

She jumped out of Yami's embrace and then stood up while wiping the remaining tears from her face before turning her head away with a snort.

Yami just looked at her with a smile when she saw this.
