"You can't kill me. I'm a part of the Crescent Sect. If you kill me, Mr. Quade will go after you!" Vernon gazed at Jacob fearfully.

"Are you trying to threaten me?" Jacob furrowed his brows. "I hate it the most when people try to threaten me!"

Jacob did not give Vernon the chance to say anything. He simply struck the latter down, killing him instantly.

After the deed was done, Jacob bent down and took the thousand-year-old ginseng from Vernon's chest. His lips curled into a smile.

He kept the ginseng and shifted his gaze toward Jeremiah.

  Jeremiah noticed Jacob staring at him, and he immediately fell to his knees.
