"Why did you come after me?" Rosa complained.

Colton stammered through his explanation, "I-I was worried that the Carters would bully you, so I chased after you with some reinforcements. Plus, this island is dangerous. I wanted to protect you myself."

Rosa replied curtly, "I don't need your protection. Jacob, Stefanie, and Melissa are more than enough. It's not like you can win anyone with your current abilities anyway."

Her scathing reply put Colton in an awkward position. Eventually, he muttered, "We have many skilled fighters in our family. I didn't bring them all along on this trip. Don't write me off because of my weak skills. I'm willing to risk my life to protect you."
