After a few days of being back home, Lucas and Steve started taking again. Even though Steve knew that he didn't have a chance with Lucas he still communicated because it was fun being friends with Lucas, in the end he came to realize that it was better for them to stay friends then being together because he also couldn't do long distance relationships.
On the other hand even though Lucas was so resistant of Steve, deep down he knew he was starting to have a little feelings for him. But he couldn't let those feelings take over him, after what happened with Liam he vowed to never let his feelings take over his life. So even though he did develop feelings for Steve, he couldn't bring himself to open his heart for anyone again.

Lucas's pov:
It was a very sunny hot Sunday afternoon when everyone was preparing for the gathering. I hated family gatherings, half of my family I didn't like, everyone was so judgmental and rude. Especially when half of the whole family is crazy rich. Expect for moms side of the family, I loved them. I also liked some of the people from dads side but, I never really grew to like them as much a I like moms side of the family. Jun's family was the only family I liked from dad's side, also not to forget Uncle Austin. He was everything to me, he is also the only person that gets me.
But family gatherings weren't my thing.
"You and Jun should get ready, your uncles and aunties will be here in a few hours." Mom said in French, whenever mom is frustrated or stressed out it's when the French slips up. Not even dad can keep with here when she's in French mode. "Okay!" I replied as I went upstairs.
When I got to my room there I found Jun roming trough my closet looking for something to wear. "You know Lucas, i just found out that you're closer is bigger then mines." Jun said, "like it's the size of a one bedroom apartment," he remarked, "So what, do you want to steal my closet?"
Jun nodded, "if I could I would" he said. Lucas shook his head a he sat down on the bed. "Oh yeah, do you know if Mina's family is coming?" Jun asked, "They never miss a gathering," Jun groaned slumping on the bed, "I hate that bitch!" That's another thing me and Jun had in common, we hated half of our cousins. Not only did half of our cousins have toxic traits, they also did unspeakable things.
"Oh did I tell you about the last family gathering?" Jun shook his head, "Oh my god, I was so traumatized!" I said, "What happened?" Jun asked, "You know Mina, MinJae, and Han had sex. Like a three sun," I told him, "no way, I fucking new she was a whore. But not one to fuck her own cousins," he exclaimed covering her mouth, "oh I'm so glad you told me this, I want her to try and say something. I'm exposing all of her shitty secrets." He said
I slumped in my bed think how this gathering was going to be a disaster. I never knew why they had these, and I guess I'll never will.
Lucas and Jun continued preparing for the impending family gathering, sharing disdain for certain relatives and exchanging stories of family drama. As the afternoon progressed, the house filled with chatter and anticipation. The doorbell rang, signaling the arrival of Lucas's dad's side of the family.
halmeoni and hal-abeoji were the first ones to arrive and with them there was a huge surprise. It was cousin Michael, one of the oldest cousins out of everyone.
"Lucas! Jun!" he called out, pulling us into a tight hug. "Long time no see!"
It had been ages since I last saw Michael. He was the cool, rebellious cousin who always had fascinating stories to share. He lived abroad and only visited during special occasions. Jun and I exchanged surprised glances; Michael's unexpected presence promised a unique twist to the family gathering.
Maybe I also forgot to mention that there is two more cousins that I admired, Michel was one of them and Gabby was another. Gabby and Michele were both siblings, so when saw Michel we were also expecting gabby. But she came on later through the party.
Now I can say the gathering is going to be fun, since all the people I needed were right here next to me.
While everyone were in the house and back yard, we sat in the front yard and talked.
"You didn't know how much I missed you guys," Jun said, "me too, this gathering would've been horrible if you guys weren't here." I added, "You know we had to come, it has been years since I saw two of my favorite cousins." Michal said, "Don't listen to him, I love you guys more." Gabby chimed in. "Well we both love you equally." Jun and hugged both of them tight.
As we continued to talk, Mina, Chaeyeol, and Yuri came out giggling to each other. The trio that nobody liked, as we watched them walk towards us Mina purposely spilled her drink at me. I was staind with red fruit puch, "oh, so sorry I didn't see you there." He smirked, "you bitch!" Jun said as he was about to grab her by the hair. "Don't do it Jun," Michal said holding him back. Mina and her mioins laughed.
As they were about to walk away, Jun purposely tripped Mina and she fell flat to the floor. "Oh sorry, my leg didn't see you there." Jun said in Korean with a big smirk on his face, "ah, how dare you!" Mina exclaimed as she slowly got up from the floor. She fixed her hair and out of no where a slap flew across Jun's face, "you bitch, you do you think you are!" She said.
Out of nowhere Jun grabbed Mina by the hair and dropped her to the floor, and a fight broke out. As we tried to separate them the adults came running out front.
"What is all of this!" Mina's mom shouted as she ran to separate them. She helped Mina up and planted a slap right on Jun's face, "How dare you slap my son you weach!" Jun's mom came out grabbing him, "Look at what he has done to my daughter!" She exclaimed, "that doesn't give you the right to slap my son!" Jun's mom shouted even louder.
They went back and fourth with insults until mom, dad, and the grandparents came out of the house wondering what the commotion was all about. "What is going on here!" hal-abeoji shouted, both moms turned to look at him and bowed. "What are grown woman like you shouting like dogs!" halmeoni added. "We're so sorry Hal-abeoji,we're to blame." Jun said, Hal-abeoji sighed as he turned to look at me, Gabby and Michal. "Come here Lucas," he gestured, I nervously walked over to them.
"What happened to you?" He asked, "umm, Mina poured her drink on me Hal-abeoji" I said nervously, "My daughter will never!" Aunt Kim shouted, "be quite!" Hal-abeoji said. "Is this true Mina?" He asked, "yes Hal-abeoji." She agreed. "How did you get involved in this Jun?" "She called me bitch and slapped me across my face." He told him, "You tripped me on the floor!" Mina Shouted, Jun looked up at Hal-abeoji with victum eyes, "I dare not Hal-abeoji, She happened to trip over my feet that's why she fell."
Hal-abeoji sighed as he shook his head, "apologize to both of them Mina," he ordered her, "but!" "No buts, apologize now!" Mina turned to us and clenched her teeth. "I'm sorry." I and Jun looked at each other and smiled.
Mom walked over to me and grabbed me. As we were about to head inside Mina shouted, "Do you know that your little perfect grandson is gay Hal-emoji!" Everyone froze and gasped. "How dare you say that!" Halmoni shouted, "Please control your child's mouth sister Kim." Mom said, "What, it's nothing but the truth." Aunt Kim smirked.
"And what if he is gay, do you have a problem with that?" Hal-abeoji asked, "What do you mean father, this is against our religion!" She exclaimed. "That doesn't matter, I mean look at Austin. Nothing is wrong with him, and he still makes more money than you and your husband combined." He said, "So Nothing Will change just because Lucas is gay, he will forever be my beloved grandson." He said as he grabbed me and walked back inside.
"And maybe you should be more focused on what your daughter does with the boys in this family," Jun said. Aunt Kim looked at him confused, "Oh, didn't she tell you that she slept with MinJae and Han." Jun revealed. "What does he mean by this?!" She asked looking at Mina with a dead look on her face. "Oops, I didn't mean to say that." He laughed grabbed onto his mom and walked into the house.
As we retreated into the house, leaving the chaotic scene behind, the air inside was thick with tension. The revelation about my sexuality lingered in the air, and I couldn't escape the judgmental gazes from some family members. However, Hal-abeoji's unwavering support gave me a sense of reassurance.
Mom held me close, her protective embrace shielding me from the disapproving glances. Jun and his mom joined us, the weight of the confrontation still lingering in the air.
"I can't believe Mina would stoop so low," Mom muttered, shaking her head.
"Yeah, she's got her own issues to deal with," Jun added, glancing back at the commotion outside.
As the evening progressed, the atmosphere remained strained. The family gathering, initially anticipated with dread, had turned into a battleground of secrets and revelations.
Later in the evening, as we gathered in the living room, Hal-abeoji addressed the family with a stern expression. "We are a family, and we should treat each other with respect. No more of these petty fights, and certainly no more attempts to tarnish each other's reputation. Understand?"
The room fell silent, and Hal-abeoji's message seemed to resonate. The gathering continued, albeit with a subdued atmosphere. Jun, Michael, and Gabby provided a supportive circle, helping me navigate through the awkward glances and hushed whispers.
Eventually, the night came to an end. As we bid farewell to our relatives, Hal-abeoji pulled me aside.
"Lucas, never be ashamed of who you are. Embrace yourself, and don't let the judgments of others define you," he advised, a reassuring smile on his face.
