CHAPTER 15: THE ENGAGEMENT.

Ann Marie: I think I have to go back inside looks like dad wants to speak

Edmund: Alright

Ann and Edmund went inside, David took the mic

David: Today, I would announce the engagement between my daughter Ann Marie Mendoza and Desmond Sam

Ann Marie: Huh

Desmond took Ann's hand and they went on the stage and pretended to smile, David gave the mic to Desmond

Desmond: I'm so happy to get married to a beautiful lady like Ann, she's the love of my life

Ann Marie: U're the man that makes me so happy Des

The crowd was chanting kiss, kiss, kiss

Ann Marie: We have to kiss

Ann whispered in Desmond's ear

Desmond: Let's just pretend

Desmond whispered back, Desmond hugged Ann. Perpetual couldn't control her tears when she heard this and Edmund was so angry. After the gala night, Ann Marie and her parents went home. Ann went upstairs and removed her high heels

Ann Marie: If only I could tell dad that I can't marry Desmond cos I don't love Desmond

Edmund had reached home and Andrea came to him

Andrea: Are you okay?

Edmund: Just saw Ann today

Andrea: Wow, then that should be great news

Edmund: She's getting married

Andrea: What, just like that. And why are you sad, u should be happy for your friend

Edmund: Nothing

Andrea: Or do u like her pls tell me u do

Edmund: I don't, I just want the best for her. I don't want her to be hurt

Andrea: Ahhh

The next day, Ann woke up and did her morning routine. She then went to the Kitchen and saw Sonia there making breakfast

Sonia: Good morning Miss Ann

Ann Marie: No, I should be greeting u cos I saw you here

Sonia: No, I should Miss

Ann Marie: Okay

Ann said as she took an apple🍎🍏 and started to chew it

Sonia: Miss, your hot chocolate is ready

Sonia gave the hot chocolate to Ann, Ann smelt it and then sip it

Ann Marie: It's really nice, Sonia. Why are you doing all the work alone, where's Sarah

Sonia: She's gone to the market to buy some vegetables for today's breakfast

Ann Marie: Oh and why are u making so much food here

Sonia: Cos Mr. Gilbert is coming here with his family and also your boyfriend

Ann Marie: Ah, dad didn't inform me about this. Sonia, can I ask you a question

Sonia: Sure, Miss

Ann Marie: Whenever I wrote a letter to Edmund, did u send it to the mail to be delivered

Sonia: Yes everytime, no your dad always takes it from me so I don't know if he sends it

Ann Marie's mind: So that's why Edmund didn't receive any

Ann Marie: Okay, can you make another hot chocolate for me. I have to go change and come

Ann left to change, she saw a yellow dress with a blue belt on her way to her room

Ann Marie: Who even brought this?

Ann wored the dress and it did looked perfect on her, Ann went downstairs and there she saw her parents and Mr. Gilbert and his family there
