Syr’s eyes widened as the glow of magic around Soren suddenly grew. And as the glow around his own arm shone out until it began to trace lines over the sleeve of his coat, the wound on his stomach vanished in a near instant. Syr cut her magic off, looking at Soren’s face as he seemed much more measured now.
Soren’s eyes snapped open, and he shot upright as he sucked in a breath. He barely even registered Syr’s surprise shriek as he clutched at his stomach, breathing in slow, drawn measure to try and steady himself.
“Well… that’s probably the weirdest thing that’s happened to me in a long time.”
“SOREN!” Next he knew, Syr almost pounced on him as she hugged him, knocking Soren back to the ground before he’d really caught his bearings. “What the hell were you thinking jumping in front of that thing?!”
