Chapter 70

ALEX

After two months, Gabriela returned to college and another three months had passed and she still didn't talk about what had happened at Jack's apartment. I'm worried about her, I think it's something she shouldn't keep to herself, it could affect her in the long run and that's what worried me.

Right now, my life is great, I had the girl I love most in the world, my relationship with my mother had improved, because my grandma and Gabriela had insisted, I should hear my mother, and I wasn't to do, much less when one day we went to dinner at my grandmother's house and she was there. I was ready to leave so Gabriela wouldn't have a bad time, but my grandmother forced me to stay, promising my mother would behave, and while I was helping my grandma finish making dinner, they were left alone and when we returned, I saw them laughing about something, since then, they got along better and I was happy my mother finally saw Gabriela wouldn't do anything to me.

Things were also going better with her family, her father at least don't say anything that bothered me, I deserved it, but he stopped doing it, I guess it's because Gabriela always got angry enough and they argued. I felt guilty about that, but apparently the relationship between them was back to the same as before. Basically, right now my life is better than I had ever imagined.

Right now I was on my way to college thinking there were two months left to finish my degree, and I wanted it to be special for Gabriela, I don't know what I will do to make it happen, but I had to do something, I want the Gabriela without so many worries and things to do, now she's practically a mother at only twenty-two years old and she painted a lot, that helped her stay calm and it's the only thing that mattered.

As soon as I arrived at the college, I was able to see Santi, the police officer who was with her to prevent what Marcos, Carlos and Ana's mother could do. I'm worried about what could happen to her, but Santi seemed like a good guy, and the best overall, and seemed to get along well with Gabriela, she seemed comfortable with him around.

It didn't take long to reach Marcos, Carlota and Gabriela. Both Marcos and Carlota seemed excited about something, and Gabriela is trying to calm them down and asking them not to speak too loudly, which I found funny, because they seemed to speak louder.

"Hey guys, I don't know why you're so excited, but you're going to make Gabriela deaf from speaking so loudly." I said, putting my arm around my girlfriend's shoulders. "This doesn't happen every day, and it seems like she doesn't like the idea." Carlota protested. "What are you talking about?" I asked trying to understand what she meant.

"Your girlfriend here has an exhibition this Friday and she didn't say anything about it to anyone." Carlota reported "I had forgotten, even Santi understood I had forgotten." Gabriela responded, focusing her gaze on mine, as if she were trying to tell me something. "But it doesn't make sense, at least for me Gabriela. You should be jumping all over the college and going out to celebrate."

"But that's good love, you'll advance in your career, even without having finished your degree." I said, with a big smile on my face. "And I know, I just have to finish a painting and I other things Rose had told me." My girlfriend protested. "Well, first of all you shouldn't stress because I'm sure it will be great."

"That's the least important thing to me Alex, what other people think is the least important thing, but there are too many things, I want everything to turn out well." she assured, "Listen to Alex for once and believe him. Everything will turn out great. We can help you with whatever you need, and you know it." Carlota supported and Marcos nodded "I know, but I also don't know who to invite other than my family and you. Maybe I could invite your grandmother and your mother." she said the last thing looking at me.

"I'm sure you'll like the idea." She said and I smiled, because I'm sure grandma would be delighted. "I'll have to call Rose during the break to tell her who she should invite." she said with a sigh at the end, "Friend, I'm excited for you, I'm so glad you're getting everything you want."

"I didn't want this exhibition thing; all I want is to be happy. The rest doesn't matter to me." Gabriela assured and I gave her a kiss on the temple. "And that you would be." I said convinced, "So, now let's go to class before we're late because of your enthusiasm."

With that, we headed to the college to go to class. Honestly is I'm happy for Gabriela, she could become popular, and even though that didn't matter to me at all, much less her, everyone could know what a great person she is.

At break time I headed to Gabriela's class to accompany her to the usual place. When I see her, she's talking on the phone, so I approach without saying anything, but she doesn't take long to see me and offers me a smile different from the ones she has given me these past few months, which made me happy too because she seems happy.

"Yes, you should send them to them too even though they can't come… Hey Rose, give me a second." She said, looking in my direction with a small smile on her face. She turned in my direction completely and before I could say anything she gave me a short kiss on the lips, which made my smile widen.

"Honey, could you go get me some coffee?" my girlfriend asked softly "Of course, do you want something to eat too?" I asked, giving her a hug. "No, coffee will be fine." She responded, "Well, I'm going to get it, it won't take long to get back."

"You can wait at our place; I won't take too long with the call." She assured, "As you wish, I'll wait for you, beautiful." I said, "Until now, I love you." Gabriela answered, "I love you too." Before leaving I gave her a kiss which I thought she accepted with delight, and I didn't stop looking at her until I had to start going down the stairs and headed towards the cafeteria to bring her the coffee she wanted, it's not she was eating too much, but it's something, I couldn't complain about it.

Luckily for me there wasn't much of a line at the cafeteria, so I soon left there, went to the usual place and sat looking into nothingness basically thinking about Gabriela and what I could do to surprise her on Valentine's Day. the graduation.

"For once in a long time I don't see you so close to your girlfriend. Are you going to tell me that without trying to do anything you two separated? How easy it was if it is like that." I turned in the direction from which that voice I hated hearing so much was coming from. Couldn't she leave me alone at any time? Just hearing what she said made me angry.

"First of all, Gabriela and I are very happy, and second, everything you trying to separate us will not work. We love each other, Paula." I assured, "You loved me too." she responded seriously, "I already told you thousands of times I didn't love you, I never did, and I never will."

"That's because you're infatuated with that girl of daddy and mommy, but when you get tired, you'll see you'll return to my arms." She said convinced, "I won't do it at all, I prefer her infinitely more than you." I informed "If you want to see it like this you can see it, I only tell you what is going to happen. Maybe you two don't have much time left here, right?"

"What are you talking about? What are you planning to do?" I asked irritably "Nothing, I'll keep it to myself. Furthermore, everyone knows Gabriela is aggressive, she must have little time left in college. Even on top of that, she was missing for two months, that doesn't sound too good to me if you let me tell you, dear."

"Do not call me that." I muttered, clenching my jaw. "Whatever you want, I'll just tell you." Paula reported, "Go away and leave me alone." I said, clenching my fists on either side. "Of course I'm leaving, but first I have to do one thing." I had gotten up to leave when she came up to me and kissed me. But what the hell was wrong with this woman and her cousin who kissed me without me wanting it? She had grabbed me by the arms, and I kept my mouth closed, I didn't want to have to endure her kisses again and it didn't take me long to separate myself from her and clean my lips to get her drool off me.

"Come on, are you going to tell me you didn't enjoy it? Surely Gabriela has no idea about kissing." Paula said with a big smile on her face "GABRIELA, LEAVE THINGS AS THEY ARE." I hadn't had time to say anything, I wanted to yell at her for what they were, that I loved Gabriela, I want to marry her and start a family with her, but as soon as I heard those words, I noticed Gabriela was coming in our direction too angry and before the bitch can do anything to her, I approach her, but she manages to avoid me and Santi doesn't take long to appear to stop her from hitting her, because I'm more than sure that's what she would do.

All of this was shit, I don't know how I always ended up hurting Gabriela in one way or another, and I hated doing it, I really did, but sometimes I thought life didn't want her and me to be together. It doesn't take long for Marcos and Carlota to approach where Santi and Gabriela were. I didn't want her to do something stupid, which wasn't that stupid, but I didn't want her to be expelled. Paula was up to something, and she didn't want anything to happen to Gabriela.

As soon as I reach Santi and Gabriela, with my eyes I ask him to move away from her and thus try to calm Gabriela down a little, because she's too angry. No one deserved me to say something that could hurt them, that was me and only me, because at the end of the day she was that angry because of me.
