Where everything changes

Walking down a hospital corridor were Annabelle, Brian, Amanda, Elizabeth and Connor.

Their steps were quick and if you looked closely at their faces, you could see a worried expression.

They saw a man in a suit standing in front of a door and stopped in front of him.

The man spoke calmly to them:

"He's inside, but..."

The man suddenly stopped talking, he had no words to comfort those young men who had just lost a friend, not least because, he had seen what was left of the boy's body.

The man opened the door and asked them to come in.

Quickly Annabelle entered, wishing that everything that happened today, was just a lie. The rest of the group, wasting no time, went in as well.

When they entered, they saw a medical examiner standing next to a stretcher.

The group ignored the doctor and looked at something with a round shape, which was covered by a white cloth.

The doctor told them calmly:

"Look, I don't know what you are feeling right now, but I need you to stay calm."

Annabelle, who was already beginning to despair, fearfully asked the doctor:

"Where is Thomas?"

The doctor swallowed all his saliva from his mouth and spoke to her:

"You are unity students, so your dreams must become heroes someday, but make no mistake, this job is not as beautiful as the media shows the world, it is something much worse than you think, you will see all kinds of human beings that exist, such humans capable of doing such macabre things, that can make you lose hope in humanity... So, before I go on with what I am about to show you, I need to know if you have enough determination, to go on with your life, after seeing what I am about to show you."

The group remained silent, until Brian said:

"Show me, I need to see it with my own eyes."

The doctor looked at the rest of the group and saw that they were prepared to deal with what was coming next, but with the exception of one.

Annabelle was not psychologically prepared, that was something the doctor realized early on, but he decided to ask her himself:

"Are you ready?"

Annabelle was in shock, her mind couldn't handle it, she knew that herself, but even with all those details, she said:

"S-Show me."

The doctor took a deep breath and placed his hand on the cloth and calmly pulled it up.

Tension rose in the air, anxiety began to take hold. Little by little, the object on the table began to be revealed.

The doctor decided to put an end to it right away and pulled the cloth over completely.

Annabelle and Amanda both widened their eyes and looked at him in shock. Brian's eyes were almost watering, but he maintained a strong posture. Elizabeth and Connor, on the other hand, maintained a calm posture, but if you look closely at Elizabeth, you can see a sad expression on her face, with tears almost coming out.

Tears were coming down from Annabelle's eyes, but there was no emotional outburst, she just looked on in shock, with tears coming out of her eyes.

The object on the stretcher was Thomas' severed head.

Brian lowered his head and tears could be seen falling from his eyes. That scene, was something he couldn't handle, for sure, it will be something that will scar, in the minds of all of them.

Elizabeth regained her posture and asked:

"Who did that?"

The doctor didn't know if he was allowed to answer, but he answered nonetheless:

"We don't know exactly who did it, but it was probably a villain and since this was such a horrible case, we decided not to expose the cause of death to the media, so only you and a few other people, know what really happened."

Elizabeth asked another question in a calm tone:

"Where is the rest of his body?"

"We don't know, the head was found, thanks to the S-class hero, Takeda, he was walking through an alley, until he noticed a strange object in a trash can, and you know where this is going."

As tears were about to fall from Elizabeth's eyes, she quickly ran her hand over it and brushed the tears away and left the room, her goal now, was to find any information about the killer.

Although connor didn't know much about thomas, he knew how important he was to the group, so out of respect for the people who had a strong connection to thomas, he decided to leave along with Elizabeth.

Brian whispered as he kept his head down:

"You used to say you were fine...so why? Why are you like this?"

Amanda began to cry and said:

"It's not Thomas, is it? I must be going crazy, it's not possible that Thomas could die, right Brian? Brian, Thomas isn't dead, is he?

Amanda turned to Brian and noticed the state he was in and realized that this was all reality. Then she looked at Annabelle and noticed her expression.

Amanda felt a strange guilt as she looked at her friend's face, she was crying, but no voice came out or any reaction, she was just staring at Thomas' severed head as she cried.

Suddenly Brian said to the girls:

"What do you think Thomas would tell us now? He would probably apologize to us, wouldn't he? He always blamed himself and always said he was okay, but he was never okay, he never was, we all knew that, but we ignored it because we thought we would get a handle on it in time and this is the result.... We are to blame for his death."

Annabelle knelt on the floor and the only thing that came to her mind was "It's your fault." A phrase that was repeated over and over until she suddenly collapsed on the floor.

Amanda and the doctor quickly went to Annabelle's rescue and checked on her.

Brian, on the other hand, didn't even move, he wanted that to be the result. Brian really thought that he and the others, needed some kind of punishment, for what happened to Thomas.

Ignoring the others, Brian left the room and spoke:

"We will meet again in a few hours, to discuss what to do next, so be in my dorm when I tell you to."

Amanda looked at brian leaving and noticed he had changed, she knew this was not the brian she knew....

.

After a while, a man who had his face covered by a hood was walking through the heavy rain.

The man didn't care about his completely wet body, he just looked at the screen of his cell phone and read the news about a student who was found dead.

One particular sentence he read, was the one that said "The victim's friends, who were among them, the hero Alexander Holmes' daughter, Elizabeth Holmes, did not want to give interviews, they seemed to be in deep mourning, for their lost friend."

The man after reading, quickly used all his strength and broke the cell phone with one hand and threw it away in a nearby culvert and walked back and said while trying to hide his face even more:

"I am sorry for what I have caused you, but one day we will meet again, so stay strong until then..."
