The Serpent Is Loose. Devon’s Unrivaled Luck.

"Yes but I will tell you the details later. Devon, it's your turn. You know what to do." Miss Béli said as she started typing something on the computer in the lab.

Devon walked towards the podium but something strange happened. He could feel something calling out to him. It seemed to be coming from his left. He tried resisting it only to find his body moving the other way towards the call. The force of attraction was too strong for him to resist. As he got closer, he discovered it was a glass cage; the so called Goluck. The glass seemed to be made from a special material. The interior of the cage was foggy but the fog quickly dissipated to reveal a big coiled beast. Looking closely, he saw that it was a serpent. In all his life on earth, he had never seen a beast live before. All the ones he saw were either dead or Spirit beasts. The beast also sensed the boy approaching and raised its head. All this while, no one was concentrating on Devon as awakening with an Awakening Stone wasn't as epic as Beast Awakening. They all knew that with an Awakening Stone, everything will be alright and the awakening will go on smoothly.

The serpent had three eyes, one on top of the other pair, in its forehead. They were black in color but the third eye was bright blue in color. The scales on the serpent were shiny red with black dots in them. On its head were two golden horns. The serpent in fact, was beautiful and coupled with the fact that Devon hadn't seen a live beast before, he got closer or say, his body moved closer to the Goluck and he placed his right hand on it. The serpent moved closer to the hand and hissed. That was when a streak of red light came out Devon's hand and hit the serpent. Devon didn't notice and so did the serpent and those around.

CRASH!

The breaking of glass drew the group's attention to Devon who was standing awestruck as the serpent pounced and coiled its huge body round him. It looked at the direction of Miss Béli. It was a very intelligent beast, that was for sure. It could sense that Miss Béli was powerful, powerful enough to kill it with a blink of an eye. It tilted its body so that Devon's face could be seen by the others. Miss Béli seriously wanted to attack but she was afraid she might kill Devon in the process. As she was contemplating on what to do, she heard coughs behind her. She turned and horror struck her as she saw Miles and the others coughing blood. The space around them was being squeezed by an unknown force. She knew instantly that it was the power of the serpent, Telekinesis. She hurriedly released her aura and enshrouded the kids with it. All the while, she had been planning a spell. A black curtain flowed towards Devon and the serpent. It started shimmering and turned into a serpent just like the first one except this was black and shadowy. That was an ability of the affinity of Miss Béli, the Shadow affinity. The incomplete shadow serpent threw itself at the serpent but was stopped in place by the blue eye of the serpent. The serpent got angry at the sneak attack launched at it and bit into Devon's shoulder. It would rather die with its hostage than die alone. Devon was in so much pain that he couldn't scream. So this was how it was going to be. What an unrivaled luck?! On the day of his awakening and he is going to end up in the stomach of an insane three eyed serpent.

SLASH! BOOM!

The body of the serpent fell down leaving only the head still stuck on Devon's shoulder. It turned out that the shadow serpent was just a distraction for Miss Béli to launch the real sneak attack. She cut the serpent into two, leaving only the head intact not wanting to hurt Devon.

Devon's face pale as he had lost a lot of blood from the bite and the damn fangs were still in his shoulder, draining his blood gradually. He looked at his principal, then his best friend and the others and their shocked expressions. The world around him started twisting and turning as he fell completely unconscious. Before he fell unconscious though, he saw some messages;

'A system?' This was Devon's thought as he went into deep slumber.

Devon was caught by a white fox with six tails as he fell. It belonged to Mia. She slowly supported Devon to the ground as Miss Béli hurriedly approached them. There were tears in her eyes but she hurriedly wiped them off before Miss Béli got close. "You better get away from him!" Miss Béli said in a serious tone. "Why?! He's going to die!" Mia cried out. She couldn't hide her emotions anymore. "His awakening has started. A Beast Awakening." "Uh…huh?! Awakening? B…but the beast is at the peak of Gold Rank. He will die!!!" Mia cried again with waterfalls of tears falling down her face. "I know but I can't stop it. The power around him is strange and unstable. All we can do is wish and pray that he is successful." As Miss Béli said this, a strong telekinetic force burst out of Devon and hit them, blowing them away. Mia was thrown a good distance away but was caught by Janette in time. Miss Béli was able to regain her ground after a bit of struggling. Such strange power to even force her to that extent. Mia regained her composure and sprinted towards Devon who was slowly being lifted off the ground. Her eyes turned white and strange blue runes appeared around her. A wave of psychic energy burst out off her and hit Devon but it was bounced back by the strange energy and shot back at her. Devon's eyes opened instantly and looked in the direction of Mia as she was thrown away. Miles hurriedly caught her and swiftly moved out of the way as the space around Devon started warping. Everything around him started floating. A strange mark appeared on his forehead, forming an eye; the eye of the serpent, bright blue in color. The objects floating around him started spinning and rotating at an insane speed. Mia tried approaching Devon again but Miss Béli acted fast by releasing shadow needles to restrain her. The others couldn't comprehend what was going on with Mia but Miss Béli touched and consoled her.

"He will be alright. It's good to worry but don't worry too much." She said to Mia making her break down in tears. She didn't stop her though and turned to the others who had frightened, shocked and confused expressions and said to them. "Mia has some problems with love. Don't say anything about this to Devon. It would be better if they grow stronger enough to protect themselves before anything happens between them. I know it won't take long for their love to bloom but Devon must not know. It's for his own good and it's better if he finds out on his own." She said in a serious tone. 'So Mia is actually in love with Devon. What an unrivaled luck?' 'I can't wait to see those two together. I knew she had something for him. By the way, Miles isn't bad but….' Janette also thought.

The space warping stopped and the revolving objects fell slowly down along with Devon. Mia rushed towards him and caught before he fell. The strange blue eye turned into a rune shaped like an eye and vanished. The serpent's head burst into tiny stars and entered him leaving only the beast crystal which was red in color. Miss Béli also came to support him by pouring Stabilizing Juice in his mouth along with a Healing Juice which healed the wound on his shoulder partially. It couldn't heal completely but the antidote was strong enough to stop the bleeding.
