The next day after breakfast, Elisa was in the kitchen washing the dishes when James walked in and said,
"Hi Elisa. Thanks for the meal. It was so delicious."
Elisa, whose hands were in the washing sink turned and smiled.
"Thank you."
James walked closer and said, "we need to buy groceries. Please make a list of what we are lacking so that we can go and buy them together."
"Okay, I will do that," she replied and James looked at his wristwatch.
"I wish we could leave right away, I have somewhere to go, but you are still washing. If you don't mind, let me assist you." He moved closer again and was about to join Elisa in washing the dishes. Elisa was a bit surprised and smiled. Such a thing has not happened before, and there was a warm feeling in her heart.
"Please, don't border yourself. I'm almost done."
"No, I want to be of help to you." He insisted and joined her in the washing. Then he added,
"I have been looking for a way to assist you in this kitchen since you came, but I'm somehow afraid of rejection."
Elisa smiled again and she didn't say a word.
"When the former maid left, and before you came, I was the one taking care of the entire house. I'm used to it."
"Wow, that's good to hear."
"But my careless attitude always burns food."
"Hmmm…so what happens to the burnt food?"
"I will immediately start cooking another one. I never allow my boss or his fiance to find out. Who loves to be scolded?" He demonstrated in a humorous way and Elisa chucked and he joined her. Just across the door of the kitchen, a noiseless footsteps walked by. It was Loveth, who carefully came and spied on them. She nodded her head and sneered.
"You better be fast about this," she thought as she left the kitchen doorpost without notice.
Minutes later, Elisa and James finished washing the plates and they came out of the kitchen. James went towards his room while Elisa went to her room to change her dress.
James entered his room and was about to pick up the car key on the table when his door suddenly opened. The swiftness of the door was so fast, that James was shocked and turned back immediately and saw Loveth.
"Is she coming to your room now?" She asked with wobbling eyes.
"No."
"Why?" She increased her voice and suddenly became conscious that she spoke aloud, she stepped forward and entered the room. She closed the door with her right hand and walked up to James.
"What are you waiting for? Invite her in. Alex has gone to work, the cameras are in place."
"Ma, I need to build things up. She needs to have confidence in me. That's what I'm doing. I have a plan. I will text you to call me when I'm ready."
"How long?" She held his shirt. "How long will you keep me waiting? What else do you want? I have given you some money and I promised to give you more after you accomplish this mission." She removed her hand from his shirt and angrily walked towards the door. Then she stopped.
"I give you the end of today to carry out my plans." She closed the door and left.
"Did she just say, 'what else do you want?" He asked himself after she had gone. But how on earth can I tell her what Henry suggested? Those words are too heavy for me to say…"
"What are you planning to do now?" Loveth opened the door again and it startled James. He never thought she would return.
"We are going to the bar, but I told her we are going to the Mall. Four to five hours from now, I will hand over the video to you."
"Why can't you tell her to come to your room now? Please, do this for me," she reduced her voice, held James' right hand and hit her both legs on the floor.
"I…" he stammered.
"Please, go and do whatever you wish. As you have said, I am expecting the video four hours from now."
"Yes, four to five hours from now."
They both went in different directions after coming out of the room. James went straight to meet Elisa in her room and he knocked on her door.
"Please, let's be going. We are running late. I have somewhere to go."
Elisa came out of her room and she was putting on a pink gown. James deliberately made a facial expression in admiring Elisa's dress, and without saying a word, they both went out into the car and James drove away.
Twenty minutes later, James stopped at a bar. James came out first and walked to the other side of the car and opened the door for Elisa.
"What are you doing?" She asked surprisedly and looked at the signboard.
"Is this the Mall?" She turned around.
"No. This is not the Mall. I just want you to rest for a while."
Elisa smiled. "Why?" She asked.
"You work every moment… Let's go inside and have some drinks. You deserve it."
Elisa put out a pretty smile and they walked into the bar and sat down.
"There is no way to get you out of that house without saying we are going to the Mall together."
"Hm… that's smart of you."
"That reminds me, what's about your mum? How is her health?"
Elisa could not reply at once. She wondered how he knew her mum was ill.
"Who told you my mum is sick?" She raised her head and looked at James' eyes that were staring at her.
"Why are you trying to hide it from me? Am I not the one who paid you your three months salary as directed by my boss?"
"Mr Alex told you?" She asked.
"No, I overheard it. So how is she doing?"
"Better now."
"Nice to hear that. I have always wanted things to go easy with you and your mum to get well..." Then the bartender walked closer to them and James immediately stopped talking and turned his face.
"Welcome Sir," the bartender bent his head a little. The young man wore a white sleeves and a sparkling black bowtie. James ordered a bottle of wine and the man walked away. A few minutes later, he came with the wine and two wine glasses and opened the wine in their presence. James took the wine and served it into the two glasses and took a sip from his own. Elisa watched every of his steps and his gesture showed great confidence.
"I want to start by saying, you are a hard working lady and also, a good cook."
Elisa smiled and James continued,
"I want to be closer to you."
Elisa suddenly paused and her glass was against her lower lip.
"Not what you think." He took his phone and started pressing it.
"I know you must have a boyfriend. You are too beautiful to be single. All I want is to be close to you. We work in the same house, but we are not close apart from working together. Please, understand me, I'm not talking about a relationship. I want to understand you better and relate with you well."
As soon as he stopped talking, his phone started ringing.
"Please don't say anything, my boss' fiance is calling." He demonstrated with his fingers and there were some elements of fear on his face.
"Good morning ma," he said.
"Where are you?" She thundered.
"I'm still at the Mall ma."
"You better start coming home right now. I want to see a friend. You took away the maid from the house. When did you start such behavior?"
"Sorry Ma, I'm coming."
"I'm leaving now, you better start coming." Loveth dropped the call and James took a breath of relief.
"We need to go home now?" He stood and hurriedly paid for the wine and came back to Elisa.
"Let's go home and continue from where we stopped. She cannot take this peaceful and lovely moment from us. Moreover, she is leaving the house. We have the entire house to ourselves."
He took the wine bottle and rushed outside to enter the car, while Elisa followed him at her own pace. The small break between both of them was enough for James to put the drug into the wine bottle and close it. After Elisa had entered the car, James quickly drove home.
Less than twenty minutes, they got to the compound of their house and they came down. James opened the entrance door with his key and they entered the sitting room.
"She had gone," James shouted and opened his hands. The bottled wine was still in his right hand.
"We have the entire house to ourselves."
Elisa looked at him as he excitedly said those words.
"Sit down," he pointed at the opposite chair. "We are the lords of this house for once. Let's enjoy ourselves and drink." He collected two glass cups, filled both almost to the brim and handed one of the cups to Elisa, who seemed not comfortable sitting at the sitting because of Loveth's attitude.
"Are you afraid?" He waited for her response and Elisa only nodded her head.
"Okay, drink fast, let's leave here," he added. Elisa collected the glass of wine and drank little from it.
"Drink all of them so that we can leave here." James persuaded her and he pretended that he was drinking from his cup.
A few minutes later, Elisa first rested her back against the chair and without wasting time, she slept off.
James took his phone and texted Loveth, "I have drugged her." And within a few seconds, he received a reply.
"What are you waiting for? I'm close to the house. I'm coming," she sounded happily.
James dropped his cup of wine on the table and quickly walked to Elisa, who had deeply fallen asleep before the drug. He held her up while Elisa could not control her head, and carried her on his shoulder. As he was about to move, he heard the sound of a car coming towards the house, and halfway towards his room, he heard the opening of the sitting room.
"My lady!" He called but got no response.
"My lady…" he increased his voice when he heard no response, but this time, he heard another sound of a car driving towards the compound.
