Chapter 82

'I'm telling you Numbers, that fucking guy had something to do with it. Did you see the way he looked at us? There's nothing in his eyes. No fear, no remorse, nothing,' Victor said near hysterical.

'First, there were flames and now there's nothing. Which one is it?' Numbers asked agitated.

'He's different from the rest. I tell you now,' Victor said.

'Tell me about Tommy, what happened?' Numbers asked.

'One of the guys went for a smoke in the shed and found him there. He had a fork in his chest. The last time I've seen Tommy was during the last break, never again. Mike, did you hear anything else,' Victor asked looking at Mike in the backseat.

'No, I heard the same story. Apparently, there was loads of blood on his face and everywhere,' Mike said. 'They say it seemed like Tommy had a fight just before he was killed.'

Victor stared out the windscreen. His mind was somewhere else. He knew they would also be questioned about Tommy's death, but at least they had friends in the police. That was not what bothered him. He did not like the way Andrew looked at them. Then there was the thing with his eyes and the extraordinary strength. He had something else. He had help from another source, a power that was not evil, but a power that was stronger, a power that could destroy them all if it wanted to. It was as if a drop of water plumped into an underwater pool echoing off the cave walls. It was clear to Victor what Andrew had and what it meant. Andrew had the power Mormo and Hecate told them about during their gathering. The power they had to destroy before it destroyed them.

'Numbers,' Victor said. There was excitement as well as fear in his voice 'Remember what Mormo and Hecate said at the gathering?'

'Yes, what about it?' Numbers asked with a frown.

'Mormo said that he came here from hell because there was a power he felt.'

'Yes, so?'

'I know where that power is and I know who holds it,' Victor said staring out the windscreen.

'What are you talking about?'

'That Andrew, there's something about him, man.'

'Ah fuck off already with this Andrew guy,' Numbers said agitated.

'Trust me on this. He's got help from somewhere and it is not our kind. There's something different about him and I've seen it in his eyes before. I felt it when he lifted me off the ground. I mean, who do you know that can do such a thing with one hand? I'm not a small guy and he is not that big either, a normal school student with that amount of power. I'm telling you, he's our target. We need to kill that fucker before he grows too strong. I hope it's not too late already. I believe he had something to do with Tommy's death as well.'

'You really think so?' Numbers asked.

'I'm telling you, man, this fucker is an animal,' Victor said with a flat tone.

'So what do you want to do?' Numbers asked.

'Well, we can ask Francois to work something out so that Andrew can go to jail, but that would not solve our problem. This guy must die. I've got a plan though. We need to start right away. We're going to Saldanha. Drive like hell.'
