Chapter 105

Andrew was not sure how much longer he could endure the overpowering strength of the beast. He had been sent to the ground several times blocking the beast from cutting off his limbs one at a time. His arms were tired and numb. The axe felt heavy, and the beast showed no signs of exhaustion. In fact, it seemed like it was getting warmed up. Andrew had to roll from side to side several times to avoid the sword from penetrating his heart. He had inflicted several cuts on Number's shoulders and arms, but even that did not seem to have slowed him down in the slightest. He wondered why Patrick was taking so long to close the portal and banish the evil for good. Time was almost frozen. It seemed like he had been fighting for hours. He hoped that his brother and father were still alive. Hopefully, they have not been surprised and killed by someone or something that had been hiding in the warehouse. If Patrick was dead, then the world was doomed. Andrew would not be able to kill the beast on his own. Something needed to happen, and it needed to happen soon. He did not know what to expect once the portal had been closed, but he thought that anything would be better than the beast beating him one breath at a time.

Andrew kept a distance from the beast to regain his strength and energy. He saw the sadistic smile once more. The thing's eyes penetrated him with their bright yellow glow, almost laughing. The tattoos that Numbers once had were stretched out of proportion over his neck and face making the tattoos larger and unreadable. For a moment Andrew lost his concentration. The beast launched forward. Andrew moved to the side just in time for the sword to miss his heart. He felt a sharp burning pain from between his left breast and shoulder. Another pain shot up from his left shoulder blade. Andrew roared with pain and he knew the sword had been driven through him. He almost dropped the battle axe from his right hand in surrender to the sudden pain that was almost unbearable. He was busy losing the battle slowly. The beast was too strong, and he had been injured. Another burning pain shot up from his newly inflicted wound when the beast turned the sword sadistically, cutting even further into Andrew's flesh. Andrew was choked by the overwhelming pain. He could hear the flesh in his body tearing and ripping as the blade twisted. He yanked his upper body away from the beast feeling the blade cutting into his collarbone.
