Chapter 259: The Strongest Light

It was only by Fujitora's fast intervention that four marines survived the assault of frozen spears.

"Stay close to me!" ordered the Admiral.

A flash of light impacted the wall of water, to not much effect.

"Is me the one you want, right? Then come out and fight me!"

His answer was a bombardment of more ice spears.

But unlike those other marines, Kizaru was able to avoid them and while doing so, he was also approaching the location where Nami and Sabo were standing.

His demeanor changed as he laid eyes on Nami.

'If I get hold of that girl, then that monster will have to stop attacking us.'

"Yata no Kagami!" a beam of light appeared next to her, but Sabo was prepared.

"Dragon fist!" A haki-coated punch, landed on Kizaru's shoulder as he tried to grab Nami.

The Admiral was pushed back and then had to move away when something landed next to him.

It was a humanoid ice figure that somewhat resembled Vivi.

The figure stared at Kizaru for a second before sending a kick at incredible speed.

"Vivi, is that you?!" Nami tried to address the ice figure but this one failed to make a sound and only seemed interested in fighting Kizaru.

Despite his exhaustion, the Admiral was quick to take control of the fight.

"Ama no murakumo."

A sword made of light appeared on his hands and he used it to cut the ice figure into pieces.

The chunks of ice fell on the sand and stopped moving.

But this was far from over. Now, two more ice figures had landed and these were twice the size of the previous one.

The figures transformed their arms into blades and charged at the Admiral.

After taking a few cuts, Kizaru was victorious once more. But his breathing was becoming irregular and more beads of sweat ran across his face.

Another loud noise. Four figures this time. Thrice the size of the original one.

Instead of charging right away, they now walked to him.

"I see…you are just playing with me…mocking this old man." Kuzaru spat the words.

The size of the water wall that surrounded the island did not change one bit after forming all those ice figures. Kizaru realized that it could probably have made thousands of those figures from the beginning but it didn't, for some reason.

"That seems like something Vivi would do…" Said Nami.

"Issho!, take those marines and get out of here!" Ordered Kizaru.

"I can help you fight. We may be able to-"

"To what?" Kizaru interrupted him. They both knew that no reinforcements were coming for them. They were the Admirals, they were the reinforcements.

"Go to the city, maybe she won't attack you there…I don't know. "

"Borsalino…" Fujitora did not know what to say.

"Go…I made this thing. Let me deal with it. "

Kizaru stared at the four ice figures and cleaned the sweat on his forehead.

"Today…I'm retiring."

Two swords of light appeared in his hands.

"Come, pirate!" He disappeared from his position before reappearing behind one of the figures and cutting it in half.

The other three responded by pouncing at him.

"Admiral!" the Marines called.

"Let's go…this is an order. Don't waste a single second he gives you." Said Fujitora.

"We should get out of here too." Said sabo.

"Leave? but what about Vivi?..." Nami answered.

"We don't know where her real body is. There is nothing we can do here. Let's go meet with Luffy and your other friends, we can figure something out then." suggested the revolutionary.

Nami nodded with reluctance and after giving one last look to the ice figures who wore her semblance… she left the beach.

The only one remaining was Kizaru.

Before the last ice figure went down. Ten more landed, bigger than the previous ones.

"It was supposed to be eight now. Are you running out of patience? hahaha!" Kizaru said mockingly.

The figures started to attack with more coordination this time. Some of them came from above while others surrounded him on the ground.

They all made use of the arsenal of skills that Vivi had accumulated over time. They would use the rokushiki and weapon models along with the improved versions of techniques she had recently created.

For the first time in his life, Kizaru felt completely outmatched. Fighting against one Vivi had already pushed him hard...now he had to fight an endless army of them.

"Is not going to be that easy!" He screamed at the top of his lungs.

"World of light!"

He found the strength to push past his exhaustion and activated his awakening once more.

The entire beach was covered in a dome of light.

The ice figures melted under the tremendously high temperature and disappeared.

Then, the entire wall of water started to move and change.

At first, all the water moved together, forming a column of water that extended beyond the clouds.

Then, it started to form a humanoid figure…a torso, two arms, and a head.

The water figure became more refined than the previous ice ones. Vivi's features became more recognizable now.

The colossal water Vivi was still as tall as the previous water wall and it overlooked mightily over the island of Dressrosa.

"There you are!, you finally show yourself, Nefertari Vivi!" Screamed Kizaru.

The water figure looked down at the mass of light and frowned as if it just recalled something unpleasant.

She brought backward her right arm before sending it against the mass of light that surrounded Kizaru.

It was more a stream of pressured water than a punch and it carried several times the power of the one that had taken the Strawhats for their adventure on the clouds some years back, the knock-up stream.

"Amaterasu!" A beam of light came out of Kizaru and shot outwards.

The mass of water and light collided, generating more heat and vapor.

At first, it seems that Kizarus had the advantage as the water was not able to get closer to him.

But the stream of the water did not stop or slow down in any way.

This was the fury of the seas and was not willing to stop for a bit of heat.

Kizaru could feel his body reaching its limits and knew his time was up. He had used everything he had but it had not been enough.

As soon as his heat output started to diminish, water managed to pass through his defenses and reach him.

And as the sea water touched his body, he could feel his power being sapped away by the devil's fruit curse, or what little he had left anyways.

"This…is it?"

Those were Kizaru's last words, but his last thoughts, before the current of water tore his body into pieces, were of his nephew and friends, hoping to see them again one day.

A.N: - I hope I did Admiral Kizaru some justice. Is one of my favorite characters and has one of the devil fruits with the highest potential, too bad the guy is super lazy.
