Chapter 276: Bounties
After getting past the hailstorm, they were able to continue their journey undisturbed for almost an entire day.
"Something is approaching from the sky!" Usopp shouted in alarm.
The occupants of the Sunny stopped what they were doing and hurried up to the deck.
"What is going on?" Franky liked around.
"Are we under attack?" asked Sanji.
"Usopp spotted something approaching," explained Robin.
"There is something over there!" Nami pointed up at the sky.
A shadow could be spotted in the distance.
"That's just a bird," said Vivi.
"It could be a flying ship!" Said Chopper excitedly.
"It could be a flying monster!" Added Luffy.
"It could be a flying person!" Usopp looked exhausted after rushing down the observatory.
"Guys, I see it!" Luffy looked through the spyglass he took from Usopp.
"It's a massive monster with wings, it has white feathers and…no, wait!.... that's just a bird."
Nami smacked his head.
"Don't scare us like that!".
"Damn it Usoop!, you made us all come here for nothing. My sauce is probably ruined by now." lamented Sanji.
"Sorry guys." Said Usopp.
"That's the Coo Coo bird that brings the newspaper." Robin identified the creature as it got closer.
"Oh no!...that must be our new bounties," Nami said with dread.
"Cool!, come on bring it here already! Youazy bird, hurry up" Luffy shouted at the bird.
This one got mad and landed on top of his head, its claws pinching at his skin.
"Ow! ouch!, guys hurry up and take the papers!" Urged their Captain.
"Vivi took the bundle of papers from inside his bag while Robin gave it some money.
Once the exchange was complete, the bird released Luffy and flew away.
"Let's see…" Vivi set aside the newspaper and started to flip through the wanted posters until she found her crew.
"Show me mine! the suspense is killing me! " Luffy urged her.
"The highest bounty goes last, Captain!. Everyone knows that." Vivi pointed her finger at him.
"Eh?!.... that's not fair." Luffy pouted.
"Let's start with the lowest bounty…Zoro!"
"What?!" The swordsman made very out character cry.
"Hahaha!, naa, I'm just kidding. But you should have seen your face." Vivi gave him a wink.
"You are enjoining this too much…" Nami frowned.
"Okay, fine. let's start with Chopper." Said vivi.
She handed him the bounty.
"Whoa!, they doubled my bounty!" Chopper said with amazement.
"Wasn't like 50 beri the last time?" Asked Zoro.
"Moving on." Vivi continued.
"Ah….now comes mine, of course. " Usopp approached Vivi and extended his hand.
"Nami," Said Vivi.
The navigator gasped.
"120 million!....this is very bad!"
"Wait, what about…."
"Brook."Vivi interrupted him.
"130!, yohoho!." Said the skeleton.
"Hold on…I'm getting a bad feeling." Said Usopp.
"Next up we have….Franky!"
"Super!, 190 millions!. My boys would be proud." Franky cried.
"Weren't you guys pirate hunters?" Sanji asked.
"The next is our lovely archeologist! " Called Vivi.
"This is not good…" Robin looked at her wanted poster with a worried expression.
"250 million…."
"Eh….Vivi, I think you lost mine somewhere " Usopp called but was ignored once more.
"Out chef, Sanji goes next!"
Sanji looked at his poster with shock.
"They put an actual picture of mine, instead of a shitty drawing. Also…280 million!"
"Why does it say 'only alive' thought…. that's weird." Kinemon pointed out.
"Only alive?, I've never seen that in a wanted poster." Added Nami.
Vivi had an idea of why he got that but could not say anything, just to make sure that Sanji was ready for what was coming.
"So next…you are not going to like this…" She looked at Usopp.
"Why are you looking at me like that? did you find mine now?."
Vivi handed him the poster.
This one took it in his hands, looked at it, and proceeded to scream.
"Sniper God Usopp, 350 million!" Nami read his poster.
"Why?!" Usopp cried.
"Wait!, why is Usopp bounty higher than mine!" Complained Sanji.
"This is very amusing." Zoro smiled.
" Alright, everyone calm down! We have the big three coming up next!" Shouted Vivi.
"Kinda weird that you are saying it yourself." Nami pointed out.
"Never mind!. Here is our swordsman and first mate!" She handed Zoro his poster.
"Hmph…not bad," he said.
"420 million!, good job Zoro!" Luffy smiled.
"Next it mine!" Sais Vivi.
She looked at her poster. They changed the picture. They put one of her with an angry face, attacking some marines.
"Why do they always choose these violent pictures for me? Nami ones are always sexy…." She felt a bit depressed.
"That's because I'm the sexiest member of the crew." Nami did not hesitate to make that statement.
"But, how much did they put? Let me see." Sanji approached to take a look.
His face went pale when he saw the reward.
"Are you serious?"
"Well? how much is it?" Asked Nami.
"Yeah, show us!" Demandsd Luffy.
Vivi turned the poster around so they could all take a look.
"Water demon Vivi, 1 billion. Only dead."
"One billion?!" Shouted Usop.
"Whoaa!" Chopper stared in awe.
"Only dead…" Robin muttered.
"Yeah….I guess that's what you get for killing an Admiral. No Impel Down for me, just execution." Vivi chuckled.
"Vivi…" Nami grabbed her hand and gave her a worried look.
"Hey, is fine. They are not going to capture me. Or anyone from this crew, I will not allow it."
"Hold on, if my bounty is lower than Vivi's, does that mean she gets to become the Captain?" Luffy asked with worry.
"No, but you don't have to worry about that anyway." She handed Luffy his poster.
"Wow!, this is amazing," Luffy shouted.
"Come on! don't make us wait!" Said Brook.
"Yes, show it already." Demanded Franky.
Luffy showed them his poster.
"Monkey D. Luffy, 1.5 billion!" The crew exclaimed.
"Shishishi!, this is getting good!"
