Addy's mother helped her clean up the cut and wrapped a band aid on it.
"Mr. Fudsbourgh, she's the one I was telling you about. So what do you think of her" Her father said to the so called guest
"Derek? "
"Father I think she's okay. I like her, you can start the preparations" Derek said
"Excuse me what is going on here and what preparations are you making Thomas. Explain to me what they are doing here"
"Daksha lower your voice when speaking to me. Since you really want to know what's going on, this is Derek, your soon to be son inlaw"
" I don't understand this father, what son inlaw and who is getting married." Addy questioned
"You my dear will be getting married to Derek in a week's time." Her father replied
Addy moved towards her father and held the hem of his suit
"How is this possible father, I dont want to get married yet, i'm only 22. There's no way i'm getting married to him or to anyone atleast not now. " She moved towards her mother and held her arm like she was begging for something
"Mum... Mum plea.. Please tell dad.. Yes tell him I don't want to get married now.
Dad please tell me this is a joke right? "
" You will get married to him because you have no other choice. Mr. Fudsbourgh you can begin the preparations for the engagement ceremony. We will be inlaws soon" He laughed while exchanging hugs with both Derek and his father
"No! No!" Addy yelled
"I disagree. Over my dead body will I get married to him"
"Then get ready to be buried Addison" Her father said to her with a glare. He served the snacks and tea to the guests himself and he joined them. Apparently both mother and daughter looked shattered and confused. Addy ran up to her room and onto her bed, crying and yelling.
Just then her cellphone rang but she didn't take the call. The phone kept ringing and when she checked and saw that it was her grandmother she took the call
"Hi grandma"
"So the priest said you are most likely to meet him soon" She said
"Yea thanks for the heads up"
"What is wrong Aadishree, did you meet him already, are you crying now my dear"
"It's fine grandma, i'm fine"
"There you go again shutting me out, remember I watched you grow until your father took you from here and so I know you better than I know your sisters. I know you are crying now but you'll smile later cuz that's who you are. Rani Aadishree. Brave, bold amd mighty... "
"Grandma, I just need some time alone. "
Addy ended the call and decided to sleep, she didn't know for how long she slept but she was woken up by 14 years old Meera, her sister.
"Rani" Meera's tender voice said
"Please don't call me that Meera"
"Okay big sis, are you okay"
"What do you think" Addy replied
"Well it's a full moon today but you didn't call me to come look at luna like you do whenever the moon is full. You don't look okay, you have different legs of socks on right now"
"Alright mum that's enough, i'm older remember. Since you are here lets see luna then "
They both walked to the window moon gazing
"She's so pretty today, what do you think" Meera said
"She's always pretty Meera, that's why I love her"
"I bet she's saying I love you too Rani" Meera said making Addy pinch her cheeks like she does always
"Alright now cupcake, don't you have to go to school tomorrow. Go to bed now okay"
"Mum said to make sure you eat your dinner"
"I will, now go on"
"I love you Rani"
"Goodnight cupcake, hugs and... "
"Kisses muah" Meera completed and then left Addy's room.
Addy called Tricia and told her everything that happened today especially the part of the wedding.
" Relax, your father might have a reason for doing this okay and maybe the Derek guy is not that bad"
"My dad wants me to get married so his son inlaw can handle his business and firm since he doesn't have a male child"
"Just sleep over it okay"
"I know my father and how controlling he can be. He has made up his mind already even mum can't stop him. Now I have no choice, dear lord why have you put me in such a state"
"Time to sleep princess, sweet dreams okay" Tricia said to Addy
"I wish I don't see him again tonight"
"Yea you won't cuz a shooting star just passed. Goodnight Addy"
"Nighty night Tricia"
Addy was woken up by an alarm the next morning.
"Stop it, snooze it, ugh be quiet. Mum!! Why did you set up an alarm here and so early"
"Get down here in 30 minutes Rani" Her mother yelled from outside her room
" Get down here in 30 minutes yen yen yen" Addy mimicked her mother and went into the bathroom to freshen up. After taking her bath she wore a short black gown with black crocs designed with pink butterflies and went out to meet her mother
"Good morning Rani"
" Hey mum" Addy placed a kiss on her mother's cheek and sat on the other side of the table
"You didn't hold you hair up, how many times have I warned you that leaving your hair loose is... "
"Extremely dangerous and harmful, your hair might get caught somewhere and then cut but you never listen" Addy and Meera chorused at same time and laughed at the end
" Yea yea laugh all you want about it but please tie your hair"
"I get it mum, I will tie my hair after breakfast" Addy said
" I want you to drop Meera off at the school and get some things from the market okay"
" Yes mum, Meera are you done with breakfast, I can have mine in the car. Come now let's go so you won't be late"
"Or is it because you don't want to miss Beatrice's famous cappucinos huh" Meera said
" I thought I warned you about caffeine Addy" Her mother said
"Sorry mum tch I can't hear you quite well tch tch, it's breaking tch up tch tch" Addy said acting like she was on a call with her mother
"Mum is right there, drop the act" Meera said
" Should I place you in the car trunk or what" Addy threatened
"Mum!!! " Meera screamed
"Leave from here the both of you, you are running late for school"
"Goodbye mum" Meera waved
"Bye baby and Addy please don't take forever"
