Chapter 90 The City Of Warriors Part 26

On the seventh day after Lan Huan was rescued from the street, her wounds began to heal. She stayed in this small room for seven days, and she didn't see anyone except knocking on the door twice a day and someone placing food at her door.

Early in the morning, she pushed open the door of the bedroom and walked into the small, bedraggled courtyard garden. Only then did she realize that she was the only one in the entire bedraggled courtyard garden. She sat on an old stone bench and looked at the path in the garden. She hesitated whether to go out into the larger garden or stay in this bedraggled courtyard. Just when she was hesitating, she saw a young woman walking towards her with a basket.

As soon as Fang saw Lan Huan, she put the basket on the ground and ran away quickly. Lan Huan stood up and walked to the basket. It turned out that the person who came to bring her food every morning and evening was that little maid.

Lan Huan picked up the basket and walked back to the old courtyard. She took out the food and started to eat when she saw Liling walking towards her with Bao and Fang. The two maids stopped before entering the old courtyard, while Liling smiled gently and walked in front of Lan Huan.

Liling, who was sitting opposite Lan Huan, said with a smile, "I heard from Fang that you woke up. At first, I was afraid that you wouldn't wake up."

Lan Huan looked at Liling and asked, "Why?"

Liling said, "When I rescued you from the street, you were seriously injured...the doctor said that you may not survive."

Lan Huan said, " I have been told many times that I will die from my injuries, but no matter how serious the injuries are, I am still alive."

Liling said, "Jianjun said that the person with the strongest inner strength can conquer everything..." She smiled at Lan Huan. "You are living proof."

Lan Huan asked, "Aren't you afraid of me?"

Liling looked at Lan Huan and asked, "Why should I be afraid of you?"

Lan Huan glanced down at the table and put the wooden spoon on the table. She sighed and said, "Because I'm an untouchable person."

Liling said, " So, what's the difference between the touchable and the untouchable? I believe it doesn't make any difference whether you're untouchable or not, because we're all created the same way, breathed the same air, and when we die, we will be buried in the same depth." She looked at Lan Huan. " If we were still human beings, there would be no difference between us."

Lan Huan looked at Liling and said, "You don't believe I can cast a curse on you?"

Liling said warmly, "If I treat you well and respect you...why do you want to hurt me maliciously?"

Lan Huan looked at Liling and said, "There are many people in this world who have different ideas...not everyone thinks like you."

Liling stretched out his hand and took Lan Huan's hand. Lan Huan quickly pulled her hand away. Liling stretched out her hand and took Lan Huan's hand again.

Liling smiled and said, "People say that if you touch an untouchable person, you will be struck by lightning. I'm holding your hand now, and the weather is still sunny."

Liling's words made Lan Huan laugh. Suddenly, a sad joy came to her heart. From childhood to adulthood, the first person to hold her hand was Liling. "Thank you," she said through tears.

Liling asked, "Did I say something that offended you?"

Lan Huan shook her head and wiped away her tears. "Not all tears come from sadness. I'm just a little happy."

Liling breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good..."

Lan Huan asked, "May I ask, who is the person that carried me on his back in the market?"

Liling smiled and said, "Oh, that's the Crown Prince of Magior."

Lan Huan was taken aback, "The Crown Prince..."

Liling smiled and said, "I forced him to carry you. I was going to carry you..." Liling coughed suddenly. She quickly covered her mouth with a pink handkerchief. After coughing, she wiped her mouth.

Lan Huan didn't know if Liling's cough was because of her. She's an untouchable person, and she's been taught as long as she can remember that anything an untouchable person touches dies. Lan Huan looked at the pale young woman who was coughing in front of her, stood up abruptly, and left the table.

Liling sighed and said, "What are you doing?"

Lan Huan said, "I was told since I was a child that anything touched by an untouchable person will die."

Liling smiled and said, " This disease has nothing to do with you, I have been sick since childhood, it's an old problem."

Lan Huan looked at Liling and asked doubtfully, "Are you sure?"

Liling smiled and said, "I'm sure this has nothing to do with you. Sit." She pulled Lan Huan's hands and Lan Huan sat back at the table with Liling.

"Your days are already outnumbered, why do you want to shorten your days by having this untouchable slave by your side?" A woman's voice came from behind Liling.

Walking from behind Liling's two maidservants came Ying and her two maidservants. She stared at Lan Huan who was sitting at the table with Liling. Ying knew that Liling was a quiet woman, so if she humiliated Liling like she did many times before, it would be no big deal. Although Liling was the main wife of Jianjun, she was unable to have children due to physical reasons, so Ying's status in the court was always higher, and Ying's family background was better than Liling's. Ying's father was a minister and the younger brother of the current empress, while Liling's father was just a low rank official.

Bao said, "Concubine Si, why do you curse the imperial princess consort?"

Ying looked at Bao and slapped Bao in the face. She said angrily, "How dare you little dog talk to me in such a tone?" She looked at the young maid angrily. "Know your place."

Liling said, "Concubine Si, Bao is my maid, if you want to beat a dog, please find out who the dog's owner is before punishing her."

Ying said, " The owner should train her dog to know her place, and not to bark when other masters are around."

Liling knew that Ying could win any argument, because Ying had a smart mouth and could get herself out of trouble no matter what situation she encountered. Since she is a woman of few words, she doesn't want such a trivial matter to become something that needs the prince's attention.

Liling looked at Bao, and said softly, "Since Concubine Si has taught you a lesson, thank her."

Bao held back tears and bit her lip. "Thank you, Concubine Si. This servant will remember your teaching."

Ying looked at Lan Huan, then at Liling, and said, "How long are you going to let this untouchable thing stay in this old courtyard?"

Liling lowered her head and said timidly, " She is in my yard, not yours. I want to keep her; it has nothing to do with you."

Ying sneered, and said wildly, " How could it not affect me? This thing is sharing the same ground as me." She gave Lan Huan a white look. "Knowing that this thing is here, I can't sleep with my eyes closed."

Lan Huan said, "Then you can sleep with your eyes open, maybe you will find something interesting in the dark."

Ying gritted her teeth, "You…"

For Lan Huan, anyone can look down on her, hit her, curse her, and speak ill of her, but Liling is such a kind woman, knowing that someone treats this lovely woman badly, Lan Huan is very angry. Lan Huan did not look away but challenged Ying's gaze with her gaze.

Liling looked into Lan Huan's eyes, and she realized that things had become serious. She quickly stood up, stood between Lan Huan and Ying, and said, "Then don't look at it, you can avoid her by staying in your own yard."

Ying smirked, " You think you can achieve something if you have that thing by your side? Huh?" She stretched out her arms, and was about to push Liling towards Lan Huan, but her hands were firmly held by Jianjun.

Jianjun pushed Ying away from Liling. "Who allowed you in?" he said frantically. "You have to know your own status. In terms of title, Liling is the Princess Consort with a higher title than yours." He rolled his eyes cold at Ying. " Based on status in my heart, Liling is the only person I love, and she is also the future Empress of Magior." He walked over and stood beside Liling. "What I want to remind you is that no matter how prominent your family background is, it will not change your status in front of me."

Ying said, " You are in such a hurry to make her a queen, remember, the royal father said that whoever gives birth to your son will be Magior future empress." She rolled her eyes, looked at Liling, and smiled. "Although she is the Princess Consort, it doesn't mean she will become an empress." She took two steps back. "My lord, I will take my leave first." She bowed and left with the two maids.

Bao murmured, "The Crown Prince never comes to your yard, how can you give birth to a prince?"

Liling said, "Bao, watch your mouth. Don't speak ill of others."

Jianjun laughed looking at Liling, Bao, and Fang. "She was not wrong," he said with a smile.

Liling turned to Jianjun and said, "Next time you marry a concubine, you must choose someone who actually likes me."

Jianjun said, "If I had a choice, I would choose to marry only you. You also know that the wedding with Ying is an imperial decreed from the royal father, which I can't refuse." He looked at Lan Huan. "How are you feeling?"

Lan Huan looked up at Jianjun and said, "I'm fine." She sighed, looking down at the ground, and then looked up at Jianjun. "Thank you for helping me."

Jianjun smiled and said, "You should thank my wife, not me, she is the one who is willing to help you when others don't."

Lan Huan said, "Thank you for helping me." She looked at Liling and Jianjun, sighed, and whispered in her heart: Don't be too nice to me, because when you want to hurt me, I might hurt you too.
