The closeness

Abigail was completely astounded. She kept listening to his strong heartbeat.

Lub-dub-lub-dub…

She slightly raised her head and looked up at him, who also happened to look down at her.

His gaze was gentle, as was his expression. He didn't appear to have been angry just a while ago.

How could his attitude change so abruptly?

She was looking him in the eyes in a daze. Her thoughts were still, focused on him.

He caressed her cheek. "I will plan another trip soon," he murmured.

His breath fell on her eyelashes, which trembled slightly.

"Just give me some time to get things in order," he added, his voice as gentle as before.

"Um… okay… I am not thinking about the trip. It is relieving that you are fine." She chose her words carefully, afraid he would be angry with her again.

She liked this gentle and calm side of Christopher, not his angry look. This side of him made her feel at ease.
