“What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm.

Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered.

"Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." 

He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute.

“Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?”

His silence was the clear answer.

Abigail tried to sit up when she noticed a doctor entering.

"Take it easy…" The doctor rushed over to her and put his hands on her shoulders, not letting her sit up.

Abigail squinted at him, finding his voice familiar. She thought her ears were ringing due to her weakness and anguish. But she couldn't take her gaze away from him, wondering who this doctor was.

As the doctor's mask was pulled away, revealing Jasper's face, Abigail's breath caught in her throat. The shock of seeing him in the disguise of a doctor had momentarily overwhelmed her, but her eyes welled up with tears, displaying the emotions that surged within her.

"Jasper!" she whispered his name. Her tearful eyes locked with his. The anxiety and uncertainty that had grabbed her heart began to fade, giving way to a newfound sense of optimism.

Secret meeting with Jasper
