Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered.

"Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." 

He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute.

“Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?”

His silence was the clear answer.

Abigail stirred from her sleep, astonished to see him dressed and preparing to leave for work so early.

Christopher, who was going out, paused and locked his gaze with hers. He couldn't get over what he had overheard on the phone the night before, igniting a storm of conflicting emotions inside him. He couldn't, however, simply walk away, ignoring her.

He was torn between wanting to confront her about it and feeling a sense of hesitation, not knowing how to approach the situation.
