I can never think of betraying you.

Abigail crossed her arms across her breastbone and looked aside, her heart heavy. She trusted him, but she couldn't shake the impression that someone was trying to approach him. She felt threatened.

"Hey, Abi…" Christopher moved in closer to her and held her shoulders. His voice was soft and coaxing. "I can never think of betraying you, okay? I didn't do anything to cross my boundaries. Trust me."

Abigail's gaze narrowed, her eyes searching his face for any sign of deception. She could see the sincerity in his eyes, but her heart still ached. Her disappointment and fury had not completely subsided, but she decided not to press the issue any further.

"Don't drink so much," she warned.

"I won't, I won't…" Christopher hugged her. His hold was tight, comforting, and familiar.

"Don't ever do this to me again," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
