Faltering trust

Abigail couldn't hold back her tears as she came out of the building and got into the car. Despite her efforts to hold back her emotions, her grief was overwhelming. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she gazed out the car window.

The driver, glancing at her through the rear-view mirror, inquired with concern, "Are you okay, Madam?"

"Take me home," she said hoarsely, throwing one last glance towards the building where she had had the unnerving encounter.

Her heart was tearing apart as she recalled Nancy's words. Despite her unshakeable faith in Christopher, she was troubled by unsettled ideas and images of him seeking refuge in Nancy's embrace. Her mind conjured up several terrible images that threatened to shatter her faith in him.
