“What do you mean?” Christopher clasped her arm. “Stop talking nonsense and eat the medicine,” he hissed, placing a tablet in her palm.

Under his fiery gaze, Abigail cowered.

"Do you find it difficult to meet my demand for a baby? It has been two years, Christopher." 

He didn’t answer her question. All he did was stare at her, acting mute.

“Why do I feel like you don’t care about my feelings?” Abigail asked. “Don’t you love me?”

His silence was the clear answer.

Ella's heart raced, expecting him to confess his feelings that might change everything between them.

"Ella," Jasper called out. He wanted to tell her how he felt about her, but the words he desired to speak eluded him. He had delayed expressing his feelings in the past and lost the love of his life. But he wouldn't repeat the mistake.

Ella's excitement peaked, eager to hear his confession. She leaned in, hoping for the words she had been waiting to hear. "You were saying something," she murmured, her anticipation palpable.

"Yes, um…" Jasper struggled to find the right words, his hesitation and an unspoken fear holding him back. He tore his gaze from her, scratching his temples in a moment of unease. "I-I wanted to thank you," he stammered, his voice betraying his inner turmoil.
